How to build two bridges next to eachother?

Hi, my question is: how to build two or more bridges right next to eachother? (if it's even possible, maybe a mod or something) I want to make a combined avenue+glr bridge, but there is nothing like that in the NAM. So the only option would be 3 bridges instead one. Thanx for sharing your thoughts on that.

Hi,

There can't be two bridges next to each other, there need a free space of at least 1 tile between the bridges.

And unfortunally there aren't avenue+glr bridges out there now.

It could be possible. Someone could make 2 tile wide bridge which are just 2 roads. Or the same goes with any other network. Would require custom bridge work which I'm not sure if many are willing to do. Although I think one for the RHW-4 is a must have. :P

EA did a lot of questionable things with SC4. They didn't have T Stacks in the base game, meaning it was physically impossible for a highway to end except by inexplicably ending for no reason. They didn't expect anything aside from landmarks to be moddable, and didn't move what they didn't want hanged (such as puzzle pieces) into the EXE. They added a "Roads Rule in (name), but streets becoming endangered" which is hardcoded into the EXE, and had to scrap the dirt road because of that one news item (which was ironically the only thing in Rush Hour that they tested besides UDI and basic functionality of the new networks).

Makes me wonder if anything was left unused in the base game...

OK, my thoughts on your problem; a workaround where you use Tram in Road-bridge instead.. If the trafficflow gets over capacity, the game will let you build bridges with 1 tile apart... just fill the empty space with trees or shoreline plop (or wathever you want)

I was thinking the same. NWM's 6 lane avenue would be perfect for the job, I read they are planning/making a AVE6-GLR type. Or just make a maxis GLR-avenue bridge. Either way a professional bridge-maker is needed. So who likes to make bridges? (or is there anyone befriended with xannepan?)

Let me drop in some pointers here:

There's no way, even with the NAM, to build two bridges adjacent to each other. Paradoxically, this may have been possible using an outdated version of the game (SC4 vanilla?). There is, however, another way to pull that off even even with the current version, but it requires some super-advanced methods that, for a momemt, can destroy an entire region.

Additionally, WHICH 6-LANE AVENUE?!! There are two of them: The improperly-labelled two-tile MAVE-6 (that should be called RD-6) and its three-tile counterpart, the AVE-6. This is the biggest reason why we're renaming some of the NWM's networks, simply because the names assigned to them has led people to confuse MAVEs (RDs) with AVEs.

On the topic of NWM bridges, you can't just make a double-Road bridge and expect it to work with the NWM networks; Bridges don't override the same way you can override a Road using a starter. What you really should do is create a specially crafted AVE bridge with the RD-6 textures and paths affixed to it instead of the AVE textures and paths. This is the principle behind making two-tile RHW bridges: They're technically not RHW, but they're designed to work with RHW such that it can be called RHW. With such RHW bridges, they're actually MHW bridges, and they have to be built using MHW.

In other words, in order to make a bridge for a two-tile override network, you have to "steal" a two-tile network that can already make bridges (Avenue, Maxis Highways) and make a bridge for each network using that bridge-making material.

If we're talking dual-networking, line GLR-in-AVE, then that may be a tougher problem. We're dealing with a network that's made from TWO networks: AVE and Elevated Rail. My guess is that in order to make a dual-networking bridge like that, you'd have to use the potentially destructive methods I alluded to in the first paragraph.

What I'm talking about is the Diagonal Bridge Enabler, which is the most advanced NAM plugin there is, and it's advanced for a reason. This is a mod that will drain your water and break your slope mod, but that's essential to creating the holy grail of bridge-related modding: Diagonal bridges. It's theoretically expandable to accommodate triple-tile bridges (and of course, adjacent bridges), but there has yet to be any sort of serious work on that, save for a few RHW examples.

    -----

Oh yeah, workarounds. There should be a piece that allows you to transition from GLR in AVE to just plain AVE with GLR off to the side. That way, you only need to build two bridges for only twice the amount of room that a theoretical GLR-AVE bridge would need. You don't need three bridges (unless you don't like crossing GLR with road traffic).

I think we were thinking about this:

    1. "simple" avenue bridge drawn with GLR median, xannepan made a GLR-in-road so this must be possible too (1st pic)

    2. NWM AVE6/TLAVE6 (3 tiles wide) GLR bridge (2nd pic); this could be tricky, basicly the middle road ends before the bridge (3rd pic), then you make two bridges with a space between them (4th pic), the trick is: these bridges have overhanging graphics (5th pic) marked as red area on picture. Both bridges could be transport enabled for cars and trams like xannepans GLR-in-road bridge. Tram-automata probably can't drive trough, but tram-traffic should.

    Any thoughts on that?
