SC4Devotion - Server Upgrade

Hello everyone. I'm looking to download sc4mapper but i found out you have to register at sc4devotion.com to be able to download it. I looked all over the web and suffice to say i was forced to register. For some reason it seems you have to send an email to the staff to get your account activated but this isn't working. I've tried about 4 times and this is the error i get: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Mailbox quota exceeded (state 14).

Now i'm just wondering if anyone who has a working account can contact the admins and let them know that its impossible to activate accounts at the moment? If possible please forward my email address and have them activate my account: *email removed*

Thank you :)

Hi LordDeimosIV-

I am one of the Admins at SimCity 4 Devotion, and thanks for letting me know about the mailbox issue . . . I've passed that along to the webmaster. I have manually activated your account on the forums.

However, if you're wanting to download SC4Mapper, you'll actually need a Lot Exchange (LEX) account. Our forums and exchange are not linked and require separate accounts. The accounts there do not require Admin approval, so you should be able to use it right away.

If anyone else is trying to register and having difficulty e-mailing the staff account, drop me a PM here.

was not quite sure where to post this, but does anyone know why the sc4devotion forums are still offline, i can understand a day or so of maintenence, but it's been off for four! I'm not all that botherd, it's just i found out they were offline when i was about to download a file off them for a modding project. Any news would be much appreciated!

Sorry Jibjohn, but this is probably the wrong place to post this. Regarding SC4D I think you're forgetting the fact that we are a completely different forum with almost no association to them. Unless, the SC4D staff has an account here at Simtropolis and are somewhat active here, you will probably not get the answer you're looking for.

Was wondering about this today. In as much as this is a separate forum from SC4D its is just as important. Simptropolis, SC4D, and Simpeg - must visit sites for SC4 fans. Each has its strengths and its usefulness.

There should be minimal disruption on the LEX for downloaders for the remainder of the process.

The main issue right now is that the domain registrar is taking its sweet time directing the URL to the new server.

I made a donation to SC4devotion and tried to e-mail the paypal address but the e-mail bounces back. Any idea when the administrator at SC4D mails the DVDs? I looked over the entire homepage for a "contact the admin" but no good. Thank you for any help from anyone that may be able to help me.

SC4D is back up, by the way.

Tried to get into the SC4D forums but no good. I will make absolutely sure to contact 'admins' prior to making anymore donations! Un-believeable that their paypal e-mail bounces back and no other way to contact staff.

Jerel, I've just dropped you a PM.

For those who aren't yet able to see the new forums, that is likely because your ISP has not yet refreshed its DNS tables, and is still referring the URL to the old server rather than the new. The process of propagating a new server's IP can take up to 24 hours. If you can't get on now, check back in a few hours--you should be able to find the new forums by tomorrow at the latest.

Thanks Tarkus for the info-update...

Unable to 'log-on' yet :| but will stay tuned until it works, and then, update this note

    I hope my earlier efforts for SC4d(see I got it right this time)updates wasn't too out of line :blush: or too 'upsetting' for the techs to worry over :}

Trust all is well and good with you

Happy 4th of July, Thanks for putting the site-things together on a holiday :ducky: :ducky: :ducky:

PS... maybe the admins could 'merge' what I started, into this thread to tidy things up -just a thought

PSS... I finally was able to log-on after duking it out with the log-in password gorilla, I simply made a new password... glad to see all is well and up and running :thumb:

When I try getting on it says "Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later."

I've done that. (For 4 different browsers actually) as well as tried some other things. But no luck. I asked Tarkus in STchat and he said it was a weird problem. He said he'd PM jeronij for further help. At the moment I still don't know what's wrong. :|

    Hi _marsh_

I was having this kind of problem too. I could log in from the laptop, but not my PC. Following catty's instructions below worked for me. (Her instructions for XP worked for me on Vista.)

Have fixed the problem my end, it was my Hosts file

The hosts file is a computer file used in an operating system to map hostnames to IP addresses. The hosts file is a plain-text file and is traditionally named hosts.

its located in Win XP in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\... folder on my computer

and for some strange reason it had the SC4D IP addresses in it, after the localhost address (which is meant to be there)

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    74.52.84.74 sc4devotion.com

    74.52.84.74 www.sc4devotion.com

    :)

    Hope this helps!
