Hi there.
Ummm, trying to download lots from the SC4 official site. However, every time I start a download, it immediately states that We are unable to process your request successfully at this time. Is this a problem with me or is it a problem with the SC4 site? Am I missing something? Sorry if this has already been discussed, I didn't see anything.

are you a registered member to the site? you cannot download anything if you are not. and if so, their server may have been really busy at the time.

Yeah, I am a registered user. And if the server was really busy at the time, then it's really busy every time I try it, which has been at different times of day. So yeah, I have no clue what it could be.

Did you validate your membership after you registered? Simtropolis sends an e-mail to the address you registered with a link to click on to validate you your membership.

If you did, then the only thing it can be is the server is REALLY busy. Look at the top of the main page and you will see Donation Stats. Click on it and you will see that Simtropolis has had to reduce its bandwith dramatcly over the past few months. Why? Lack of funds. This stuff isn't free.

If you want more bandwith, make a donation! 44.gif

And yeah, I installed it to the default location. Using Internet Explorer to download them. Thanks for all your input guys, maybe it's just my crappy computer.

It's actually not that crappy. I have a 1.7 GHz P4 with 256 RAM and a 40 GB hard drive. It's not a brand name computer... but that shouldn't have anything to do with it. I'll try that Save Target As... suggestion later and get back to you guys.

I didn't ever have a problem downloading stuff from simcity.com. I don't know what your problem is, but I guess it may be caused by the security settingns you have chosen. More specifically, the simcity.com site needs to install an ActiveX control which performs the teleporting (downloading) procedure. If your security settings are set to the high level, downloading and installing ActiveX controls is disabled; you can set the options for ActiveX separately (thus defining a custom security level), ie change the option from Disable to Prompt (you will be prompted for installing ActiveX, your browser won't refuse installing ActiveX in advance). Alternatively, set the security level to Low, perform the download(s), and then restore the security to your prefereble level (the one you used before).

Otherwise the server may be really busy.

    Hope this helped.
