Total mass transport failure

Hello everyone - newbie here, and first post, so forgive me if this question has already been answered.

So I have a city of 183,000 going, my biggest yet. I took some time yesterday to upgrade the transport system, in particular adding between 10-20 new British style bus stops, and upgrading all the overcapacity vanilla railway stations (mostly with Jasoncw's set of over-track ones).

Then something weird happened. First the game crashed, but that happens after a while everytime I play so I thought nothing of it. But then, when I reloaded the game, none of my mass transit was working. Every single station's hover-over display was greyed out, with no figures for usage (not even a zero - they were just blank). Nor were any of the bus stops working. If I put new stations, they seem to work - but given there's upwards of 20 stations and 50 bus stops in my city, I'm not too keen to replace every single one.

The impact on the city has been disastrous - no one can get to work, the population is crashing, and everything is going to pot. One whole week of lovingly crafted SimCity is going down the drain and I've no idea what to do! Has anyone had the same experience? What can be done about it?

Help please!

May have just bugged the citytile...(hopefully) never heard of this before. Is it only this city? Have you tried replacing all the transit stations?

When you say "upgrade," do you mean you replaced old stops with new ones and/or added new ones, or did you change settings with Reader or other program? And were these British-style stops a new plugin or had you used them before?

...and upgrading all the overcapacity vanilla railway stations (mostly with Jasoncw's set of over-track ones).

Perhaps the terminology is confusing me, but do you have regular SimCity 4 or do you have Rush Hour/Deluxe. Most items require the latter.

    Hi,

@Jasonbread - I haven't replaced all of them, but when I place new ones they work fine. I'm just not too keen to have to replace every single mass transport station in the city!

@Captcity - sorry for the confusion. I have SimCity4 Deluxe. By 'upgrade' I meant 'add a lot of a new stops'; the British ones are plugins. I had a few of them in my city for a few years before this and they worked fine (more than fine actually, they were great). I haven't changed any settings.

    Thanks!

Hmmm... Then perhaps something did get messed up during the crash... Unless for some reason your Mass Transit budget zeroed out... but I don't think that would cause the unusual display. Maybe give it a check...?

Here is a check you can make:

Copy the region to your desktop for backup in case this fails.

Start your city. If it has the bad stations, that's OK. Add one that works, and make sure it is working.

Do a save city and exit game.

Start it up again, and see if your bad stations are still bad. If so, then you've had a problem during the crash which wrote something bad on your city. Did it crash during a save?

To return to the status quo ante, copy your region from the desktop back into the game.
