Hi guys! First post from a newbie here, and I am hoping to hit some of ye Masters of the Sim for some opinions/answers. Basically I've been playing SimCity on and off ever since it came out, and the 'offs' were mostly due to frustration. All the cities I built maxed out at about 150,000 population - and then epic transport problems, lack of demand and whatnot always caused a terminal decline in funding and eventual catastrophe. I got totally sick of this cycle last week and finally cracked - after eight years (!) - and downloaded a full demand and improved legalized gambling mod. With ever-growing zones and plenty of teh monays, I've set about building the region of my dreams. But the devil on my shoulder won't shut up. The problem is, it kind of feels a little too easy now. All I have to do is zone, and presto! a lovely little burg. I introduced five rules to keep the game interesting: 1. City must run at a profit. 2. City must have 100% employment - no 'no job' signs etc. 3. Legalise gambling ONLY when reserves fall below 50,000 4. All ordinances must be active. 5. Ploppable commercial lots banned, except for in two central 'commercial centres'. ...but still the devil babbles. What do you guys think of this? What is your approach to compromising between building successful and beautiful cities, and keeping the game challenging? Any and all opinions appreciated!

Total mass transport failure

Hi, @Jasonbread - I haven't replaced all of them, but when I place new ones they work fine. I'm just not too keen to have to replace every single mass transport station in the city! @Captcity - sorry for the confusion. I have SimCity4 Deluxe. By 'upgrade' I meant 'add a lot of a new stops'; the British ones are plugins. I had a few of them in my city for a few years before this and they worked fine (more than fine actually, they were great). I haven't changed any settings. Thanks! -
Hello everyone - newbie here, and first post, so forgive me if this question has already been answered. So I have a city of 183,000 going, my biggest yet. I took some time yesterday to upgrade the transport system, in particular adding between 10-20 new British style bus stops, and upgrading all the overcapacity vanilla railway stations (mostly with Jasoncw's set of over-track ones). Then something weird happened. First the game crashed, but that happens after a while everytime I play so I thought nothing of it. But then, when I reloaded the game, none of my mass transit was working. Every single station's hover-over display was greyed out, with no figures for usage (not even a zero - they were just blank). Nor were any of the bus stops working. If I put new stations, they seem to work - but given there's upwards of 20 stations and 50 bus stops in my city, I'm not too keen to replace every single one. The impact on the city has been disastrous - no one can get to work, the population is crashing, and everything is going to pot. One whole week of lovingly crafted SimCity is going down the drain and I've no idea what to do! Has anyone had the same experience? What can be done about it? Help please!
