    MrVegetable:
Thank you. My first aim is to make this village as realistic as possible. And pleasing to the eye, of course.

    Kwakelaar:
Thank you for the nice comment.

To everyone who wants to help me out:
I have seen this in ert90's latest CJ:

    farmsupply.jpg

He told me that it is a BSC lot. But I am unable to find it on the STEX. Does anyone know where I could get it? It would be a great addition to a farming area you haven't seen yet.
    Thanks for your help.

The next update will be posted in a few hours. So - come around if you want to see it.
    Comments are always apreciated.

Unbelievable... Already page two in less than 24 hours...

    Welcome to page 2

    mattw:
Welcome to simtropolis! I am fairly new here too. Thank you very much for posting in my thread. I am glad that you like the village.
I have not changed the transport apart from using the NAM (Network Addon Mod). This Mod gives you many new intersections and other new possibilities like for example the roundabout you have seen here. It is a great addition to the game.
I am from Germany. I don't have a left hand driving version.
What do you mean by 'when do you hope to give it out'? I don't understand this.

Question to others: Would it be possible for me to change the driving direction?

    TommyC352:
Thank you for the nice reply. I hope you don't get to sad looking at it.2.gif

Ha! I was curious about the Independence Hall landmark, too. Funny that I didn't recognize it, since I live near Philadelphia... 41.gif I never considered trying it as a town hall, although I guess that's what it originally was.

I like your use of Marrast's walkways to make a little park. I've only just started experimenting with his walkways and dividers and I'm surprised just how useful they are and how well they look in game.

barnatom: the lot you are looking for is part of the farming expansion pack uploaded in March. I think it is the BLS Garden Supplies reward and was made by simgoober. You would need the whole pack of BSC farming to get this as it relies on BSC farms and fields.

    I just noticed:
Nearly exactly 600 views in 24 hours. That means 25 visits per hour. That means nearly one visit every 2 minutes. And this is only one of many threads. Wow. Simtropolis must have an extremly large number of users. I am much surprised.

    Mikeaut1:
Thank you for leaving a comment again. I am surprised myself about the number of congratulations that are posted here. Now there is one more. Thank you!

    mattw:
Sorry. I think you misunderstoud. The pictures you are seeing here present a city I am building. For that I use various lots other people have put on the STEX (Simtropolis Exchange). None of the buildings you see is my own creation. I am just a mayor in the game. If you want to have the buildings I am using, search for 'gascooker' on the STEX and you will find almost everything you are seeing here.
Or did you mean that you want to have the whole city? I think interchanging developed cities is nearly impossible.

I still am not quite sure what you wanted to know.

    oroen:
Thanks for another comment. I like marrast's walkways very much. In other cities I have build I used them quite often.

    BarbyW:
Thank you for helping me again. I already have many of BSC farming stuff. So I will try to get all the nessecary parts together, although this always comes out a little bit difficult for us Mac users.

    Let's continue the tour.

The afternoon of the second day in the village

After finishing our lunch, we leave the White Swan very satisfied. The wether is nice, so we go for a walk through the outer parts of the village to see what can be discovered there. We head out of town, to the north. Immediately the building density is getting lower. We walk through rows of single or double homes which look all very similar. Of course, they all were build in the same period then the bigger manufacturing plants in the south of the town were founded.

    aukvillagepart312lz.jpg width=800 alt=Im

Soon we reach the north border of the village. Near to the forest some richer people have build their houses.

    aukvillagepart324wo.jpg width=800 alt=Im

After getting to the last street we turn to the east, following the street next to the surrounding forest. At the outbounding road some there are some small comercials which provide some services to the people in this area. At the last edge of the village we can only turn right, heading south then.

    aukvillagepart338gg.jpg width=800 alt=Im

Walking down this street soon we discover a tree nursery (is it named like that?).

    aukvillagepart347cd.jpg width=800 alt=Im

Following the street - which has converted to a more important road now - we get to the town centre again. After entering the narrow roads we soon pass by the bank we already saw this morning, although from the other side. We have reached the church again!

    aukvillagepart350kk.jpg width=800 alt=Im

From now on we know how to get to the Yorkshire Grey there we will stay for yet another night. It was a pleasant walk through the north of town, wasn't it?

That's it for today. Tomorrow we will visit some parts south of the church. If you are interested, make sure to have a look.

Comments and suggestions are welcome - as always.

Oups! What is happening here? Anyone out there? No more comments? Has interest droped that fast? 34.gif

Please let me know if you want to see some more of the village.

If nobody is interested I won't continue this.

    Thank you.

barnatom you have to be patient sometimes and let people have more time to comment, and just because you aren't getting a lot of comments doesn't mean that the CJ isn't popular, it maybe just people are either busy, asleep or have other things to do on ST, a CJ doesn't become popular to the 5th, 10th or even the 20th page (as said by senior members), just be patient trust me2.gif

    neat little village btw

    tc13:
Thank you for your advice. I will be more patient from now on. I am new to this whole CJ thing. So I don't really know how it works.

    jacqulina:
Thank you for your nice words. I already feel a little better now.

    New roads in the village

Some of my readers suggested to use the Euro Road Mod. I have tried it. And I will use it. I never thought that it will look so good. And it is nearly flawless. I only have discovered very few tiles with pieces of yellow lines.

Many thanks to the creators of this fantastic mod. Here I will show you these pieces I noticed (although I believe that you are quite aware of them).
This is also a way to illustrate how the village is looking now with the new roads.

    aukvillagepart415ha.jpg width=480 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart422yi.jpg width=480 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart434ha.jpg width=480 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart447xo.jpg width=480 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart459vt.jpg width=480 alt=Im

And the roundabout has its yellow stripes as well. But I don't think that it is disturbing very much. Actually, I rather like this little bit of diversity.

    aukvillagepart460cx.jpg width=480 alt=Im

As some of you might have noticed already, I am using the new dirty street mod.

    jeronij:
If you are reading this, I want to thank you for the work you put in this mod. I like it very much.

As I understand it, the dirty street mod changes the street/road intersection tiles as well. This leads to the following.

    aukvillagepart476rg.jpg width=480 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart485mv.jpg width=640 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart495nh.jpg width=480 alt=Im

I hope that some kind of teamwork between this two mods will be possible. Some way to let one mod know of the existance of the other so that the textures can be applied accordingly.

Finally there are the great bridges over the brick canals.

    simgoober:
If you are reading this, thank you for your fantastic brick canal set. It would be great to have Euro versions of your very good bridges, too.

    aukvillagepart4104je.jpg width=640 alt=I

    That's it for now.

If I have enough time I will post the promised tour through the south of the village later this day.

Please leave some comments if you want to see more of the village. After getting no replys to my third update for a long time I was already thinking that the interest in this had vanished. Thank you.

Thanks to everyone who left a note. I am feeling much better now about this.

    Tennismaster1:
Good tip. I will see if I find a place to put it somewhere in the village.
How do you get along with your own CJ? Have you solved the problem with uploading pictures? I would like to see something of your work too.

    toxicpiano:
Thank you for your comment. I don't really know the borderline between a village and a town. What would you say? From what number of residents up a community should be called a town? In german we only have the words 'Dorf' and 'Stadt' which translate into 'village' and 'city' respectively. So I am not sure where to locate the term town which seems to be somewhere in between.

    jacqulina:
    You are always welcome here!

    chek:
I am glad that you like it. Answering your question:
This is a long story. First you have to put down the correct zones for the lots to develope. Then you will have to wait and to demolish any unwanted buildings that show up. And wait again, and demolish again, and wait again, ...
To get the correct buildings everythere this will take quite long. The village you see here is over 500 years old already.
If you want to know how to get gascooker's suburban homes have a look at the 'BSC Gascooker Emporium'. I posted a mini-tutorial about that there on page 18 . If there is much interest in it, I could do something similar for the terraced buildings that you can see in the town centre.
To make it easier to get custom buildings to grow you should try out this Tile Set Mod . ert90 and nooneatall told me about it. I have tried it yesterday and I wish I would have had it sooner. It makes building a city like this much easier.

    Traffic_Jam:
Thank you for leaving a comment.

The tour will be continued later this day. Come here again if you are interested.

    No problem.

    toxicpiano:
So, by the look of it you would say town, right?

    MayorTim:
European, yes. That was my intention. Thank you for your comment.

The third day of the village tour

While having breakfast at the Yorkshire Grey, some people at the neighbour table told us about the local cemetery. A must-see, they said. Thinking that we shouldn't leave this village without having seen this fabulous place, we went through the village, heading east. Because that was the direction they had told us to go. We had to pass the little park in front of the church again.

    aukvillagepart516jr.jpg width=800 alt=Im

This has to be said here:
The_New_Thing: (creator of the rowhouses seen in the left of above picture)
If you by chance read this, I want to thank you for your very nice 'Thing row' set. I like these buildings. You should consider to make some cornerlots similar to gascooker. It would really rise the usefullness of your beautiful BATs.

    Back to the tour.

Soon we reached the last houses and had to go along some small fields and apple trees.

    aukvillagepart520by.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart537qn.jpg width=800 alt=Im

Climbing up the little hill we saw it. The cemetery and its nearby church. This is real rural life. Even a horse was walking down the road. But the cemetery itself was just an ordinary one. This type of cemetery can be seen in every city around the Sim-Nation. Quite a letdown.

    aukvillagepart549el.jpg width=800 alt=Im

If we saw something more interesting afterwards will be told in the next chapter.

    That's it for now.

What do you think about the cemetery? A rather boring place it is, isn't it?

    Thank you for replies.

    (Is it 'replys' or 'replies'?)

    No comments. 15.gif
    Hmm.

But I will be patient. As promised.

The unsuccessful afternoon of the third day

After the disappointment due to the uninteresting cemetery we went to the south part of the town. Unfortunately it was boring there, too. All the houses looked equal. So we cannot remember which streets exactly we followed the whole afternoon. But one thing I remember. At some place there were some paddleboats. But since the weather was bad, much too cold, we had no interest in them. We all fell relieved as we got back to our charming Yorkshire Grey. All in all, it is just another little village we are staying at. There is not much of a point visiting it.

Tomorrow we will see if we can finally find something interesting in the - until now unknown - western part of this village. But there seems to be little hope.

Nethertheless here are some images of the parts we visited today. In no particular order.

    aukvillagepart611ww.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart623xt.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart637dr.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart643ud.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart656lb.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart667io.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart678ir.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart685ru.jpg width=800 alt=Im

    aukvillagepart695gf.jpg width=800 alt=Im

That's it for today. Tomorrow we will see the western part of the village. If you are interested, make sure to step in again.

    Comments are welcome.

    Great updates.

Why there still a some yellow lines show up here and there, is that the Euro-Style Road Mod is only aprox 75% done.

I hope I don't sound rude asking, but where did you get that roundabout?  I've been looking for one for ages, and that is quite nice one.
Also, that canal system is very beautiful

I can answer one of my questions for myself: It is 'replies' and not 'replys'. It is written in big letters right under the title of this page. How silly I have been...

    vester_DK:
Thank you for your comment. I know that it is unfinished work.

    debussyman:
Welcome back. Nice words from you. Good to hear. I was bored myself describing only the way we are supposed to take on the tour. Glad that you like it.

    Farkas:
Welcome on Simtropolis. Thank you very much for your post here.
It is never rude to ask something. These roundabouts are part of the NAM (Network Addon Mod) that you can get in the modding section. You find this section in the left column of every page. There you have to look for the essentials.

The canals are simgoober's work. You can find them in the STEX (Simtropolis Exchange) searching for 'canal'.

I hope I could help you.

    Off topic

After seeing MrCinatit's amazing terraforming, one thing was clear. I had to start a new region. I have done that and am currently trying to do some terraforming on it. Perhaps I will start a new CJ about its developement.

I want to show you a little image of what I have now. Here it is:

    cadottbaycenter7ap.jpg width=800 alt=Ima

What do you think? Does it look promising? Or is it boring?

Please tell me what you think about it.
