There are several map types, so ou will have to make the punishment fit the crime. Personally, I don't use the SC4Mapper.

Since the Omnibus is not up yet, any links that had led there are not working. You can read through this post for instructions on installing maps.

Important note: At this time, only the maps using SC4Terraformer or SC4Mapper are able to be installed. The original method of using configs and grayscale images is still being sorted out. Because of this, you'll need to follow those particular insructions in the post.

CaptCity, I'm curious about your above comment. I'm not aware of any problems in installing a grayscale image and config.bmp map into SC4. Would you be able to elaborate on this issue?

There are basically two ways of creating maps for use by the game. The original method was to create greyscale images that would be used by the game to render the maps. an example. For this type, using the download button should give you a page with two more download buttons. These give you a config (bmp) image and a greyscale image (jpg). In your Region folder, create a new folder with the same name as the greyscale image. Place both of the image files in that folder. Then run the game and follow these directions - beginning at the Installing the Map Files into SimCity 4 section. (the previous section no longer applies).

The other type of maps are those created by SC4 Terraformer. an example. Using the Download button will give you a zip folder containing an SC4M file and a config file (and possibly other images not needed by the game). You can follow these instructions to render the map by the game.
