Hello guys, so i have a quick question.

I started a new region in D.C., In my first square I had power deals with all 4 surrounding citys, Now the time came to upgrade, so instead of building a new plant i destroyed the one i had and build a larger capacity one. The thing is that i lost the deals i had with the other citys, no big deal so i go in and open them back up..... but i only have 3!!

I cannot make a power connection.

i waited and waited but the city emptied and still no power deal opened up. i have played both city's while saving in between for 4 years each now. (1 year for 1, 1 year for the other and so on..

anyway i just built a power plant in that city so who cares right :P

but can i ever look forward for another deal? or do the city's not like each other any more?

any help please? or your own experience would be cool for some stories too

Power deals are quite tricky. I haven't reliably been able to set one up if the city was anything but empty. I plan them and use a huge plant, so there is no further fooling around. You will need the moolah command to place these, but maintenance is cheap.

You need both of these because the power plant needs a lot of water.

Instead of bulldozing the power facility add another next time, especially if you are feeding neighbors power. Only delete power facilities if they are old and inefficent, but be sure to replace them with something else before hand.

Also, make sure you have a power line connecting

as long as you can supply over 1000mwh then you are golden

Yup, I have done this, one tile supplying power up to three or four tiles distant.

Power dealer? Interesting, does it cost higher when going further?

the first city you sell power to will be buying it at the same amount it cost to produce it, when it goes to the next neighbor over it cost what the neighbor is spending on the excessive power it is buys from your power tile, at 3 tiles it it cost whatever the first and second tiles are spending on excessive power.

say you have a nuclear power plant producing 16000mwh and cost 32k to build, then divide the cost by how much power you are selling to neighbors, and divide the cost again for any neighbors it sells to.

the best way to get enough power to sell to a neighbor when you have no power source is to zone a good amount of industry and buy more than you need, save to region and open a city that has a power line running to it from your first buying city.

Same works for water. I call the cities that are involved with the origin of garbage, power, and water 'corporations.'(i call them corporations because they incorporate every city around them, and more) Tthe only way to start a corporation to to produce excessive resources, or zoning ample land and buy/sell all your access to the first tiers before they begin using that power/garbage/water to its full potential, allowing the deal to continue on further. As long a city has 1000mwh to spare it can start a deal. water only needs a drop (a large water pump can reach out 4 to 5 cities, if yoursell all the water they produce from the corporation city. Garbage may take a 2x2 area to bring in garbage, but if it ever gets full it is time to start retracing your steps back to your corporation and zoning more landfill there (or maybe an incinerator)

It may take a little landfill in some cities to get garbage from neighbors to sell to your corporation, use the zone landfill as a gauge, if it is filling up and your corpoation cant buy it then you need more landfills in your corporation city.

only be in your corporation city long enough to build/zone and run at turtle speed, as it takes too long to start running positive numbers.

In essence you can have one of each corporation, power, water, garbage, in each region, but it takes a lot of dedication, time, and proper neighbor connections

One side issue I have never paid attention to is, I rarely go to the city thats selling power, because it has nothing except power plants.

But the cities buying power, of course I go to very often, and the money is "spending" on power every month.

So, is it the case that the money spent on buying power will be accumulated and "release" to the power selling city the next time I go into it?

In the region I'm currently playing, tile A sells 4000 MWh/month to tile B for 210§/month, then tile B sells 1MWh/month to tile B for 59§/month. Not much of a markup.

Tile A's sell price is about it's own cost to produce the energy. The tile is being played, and neighbour prices vary with the production cost which varies with the state (=age) of the power plants. Plants are all Pegasus' Geothermal ones.
