Hello all,

I wanted to start a CJ again [ after my old one was deleted "accidentally"]. so i started to build again. after a month of getting the region just how i wanted it, i was ready to take pictures. before i could start my CJ, my games started to have issues with transparent textures! ANY PLOP LOT with a transparent base texture has blue or black land inplace of its transparent base. it has been appearing on all my Peg Pond kits plop lots as well as other things. Not only that, but My city Backdrop has also turned black & blue! Needless to say, im very distraught.15.gif. i cant start my CJ with this problem, has anyone ever had this problem or does anyone have any ideal how to fix it?

[ i havent changed the settings on the game in months, and i havent downloaded anything in the past 2 weeks, but the problem started yesterday]

I don't know what the deal is with the backdrop. That's really weird. I have the same problems as you with transparent textures, it mostly happens after a save, but sometimes after changing from underground view. Not sure if you've tried the "zones" section of the data view, then back to normal view. Should clear that up. If you already know about that trick and it doesn't remedy the problem, I am sorry because I don't know what else could be wrong. I hope you get it fixed soon!

Has symptoms of graphics problems with your hardware or its drivers. Have you updated your drivers? What happens if you switch to software rendering?

okay. i've found out that even in the software rendering mode the problem still exist. although the switching from zone view to regular view does fix the problem 4.gif. although its only a temporary fix, it'll work for now.

    Thnx Nonny & Selles 44.gif

Ditto. One more thing to try. Do a re-draw using the G key. (toggle for the grid).

I believe that the transparent textures disappearing is caused by going into underground view and back out again (as Selles said). There isn't any real fix to it, as it is a problem with the game's .exe itself (which we cannot edit). Switching to zone view and back out is one of the workarounds.

As for the blue backgrounds, perhaps you accidentally deleted the "Background3D*.png" 's from the program files plugin folder? These control what is displayed in the background of the city and region view; if they aren't present, the background kind of spazzes out. If you can't find those .pngs in your plugin folder, try to search for them on your computer, put them back, and see if that fixes the blue background. Or, you can download a replacement background from the STEX - there are some nice ones that replace the background with the night sky.

You can probably find the sky textures on the disks. Unless you are a programmer, I would avoid monkeying around in the Program Files folder.

As far as I'm aware this is a bug that appears when you have a lot with overlay textures but no base texture. If you have such a lot and switch to underground mode and back again, the background of your city tile will show through. The only way to get completely rid of this problem is to edit the lots so they have a base texture.
