Lot Editor Crashes when opened...

Hi! I downloaded gmax, and every time i try to open lot editor, it says there is some kind of an error and that it has to close... Can somebody help me solve this problem?

For BIWDC: I'm using Windows 7

I added files to my plugin folder but that seems to have nothing to do with it... I tried taking off all plugins but the lot editor still crashes.

For Tungston: I don't know if it worked before installing gmaz because i installed gmax first and the BAT after as suggested in the istructions that are here (where I downloaded the bat): https://www.sc4devotion.com/SC4D_Maxis_files_BAT.html

What operating system are you running?

Did you add any recent files to your plugins folder?

(There could be a bad plugin file crashing it).

gMax should not have any effect on the Lot Editor, did it work before installing gMax?

Now there's another problem there wasn't before: I'm following the tutorial from here:

Where it says Generate An SCM File point 2 says "select B.A.T."

I had that option before installing the new lot editor... but now it's gone... what should i do?

I had that option before installing the new lot editor... but now it's gone... what should i do?

The lot editor you picked up is probably the new one that is pointed to by the BAT download page and is designed to accept output files from the BAT and the descriptor editor. It may very well have bigger buffers, but be aware that it, too, will crash if your plugin suite is too large. You may have to set up a special version of your plugins file to get it to work containing only the suff you expect to edit. I suspect your tutorial is a little obsolete, and suggest you may want to hold on until the Omnibus BAT section is up.

I have been having the same problem. My LE actually worked until today. It would open and freeze but it would work its self out and unlock and finish opening. Today I tried to open it and it just crashes. I tried the SC4 Devotion LE file to reinstall it and no dice. Then I tried to open it with no plugins folder and it is still getting jammed up. Anyone have any ideas????

I am running win7 as well.

Mark it with XP compatibility. Legacy programs can be pretty wonky on later version of NT.

You will crash on a buffer overflow if there are too many plugins for it to contain in its rather small buffers. To use the lot editor you should back your plugins folder up (or just rename it to something like Plugins.old), then create a new plugins folder containing only the stuff you want to edit together with any needed props files. After you finish, you can merge the two sets back into the Plugins directory, and scrag the spare one.
