Pretty true! It really does add more realism to do images.

And thanks!

How do you get the picture to be at that angle?

You use photoshop and change the rotation to 180 degrees, horizontially.

EDIT: This should be stickied, this did help a lot of people.

Sorry for the double posting, but here's something I can add on to my flora tip.

el_san10.jpg

I took flora ploppables a bit more further than I did with the last image. This time, it's an island surrounded with reefs and other flora. With grasslands, its almost limitless to what you can come up with. There's really no restrictions for lush lands.

Looks more like Mix of the white sandstone and dark volcanic rock MM plops by LBT on the STEX but I'll let Evillions be the final verdict. I'm wondering, myself, as I'm pretty new to landscaping (real landscaping not just trees everywhere lol)

Keep calm and take photographs.

Should we (the people who just joined this thread) make City Journals as well?

Indeed! I also used some Reefs back in 2004 / 2005. :]

YES! People with CJs including me are still learning stuff from here. When you make your CJ, you can post a link to your entry and I'll take a look. From there, I'll tell you what can be improved. Really, nobody is perfect. Just try your best at it and I'm sure you'll do good. ;)

Goldiva's reefs, correct?

Yeah I'm tempted more and more to make a CJ...but first I need to eliminate the Maxis Highways. They were good for a very long time but since I'm into ultra realism, they are just too compact...this is going to take days, and many hours, but I will probably post pics in here to give others ideas/show the before/after of MHW and RWH (if that's alright, of course).

Well, I'm planning on making an entertainment district for my first CJ, but right now I'm trying to solve crash during road placing on uphill surface or long roads..

Anyway, I've had one, but the repetition was way too much, there were way too many boutiqes, too many "Wren Insurance"-type building, so maybe when I fix that I'll post THAT CJ....

Some things that might help you with repetition:

- Get a Maxis Blocker if it's too much

- Download more buildings

- Get a Wren-Insurance blocker

- Use the buildingplop cheat from the extra cheats plugin

- Demolish buildings until you get the building you want

If doing a remake of a city,

1: Always be sure to include a few real life images to compare too!

2: Be sure to download all needed buildings and lots

3: Find the proper region

4: Find proper terran/water mod

5: Take your time

Just thought I would add meh 2 cents...

Hey.

So I just found this found and I know the original post is from March, but is it too late to enroll? I do have a city right now and a CJ, but dunno if my city is good enough and where to progress it into my CJ. Got some great ideas, but this course would be helpful.

So here are my two region views of regular and transportation:

City: San Reina

Population: 400,000+

Transporation: http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8889/sanreinatransportation.jpg

Regular: http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/1417/sanreina.jpg

Here is also a link to my CJ:

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/journals/897-san-reina/

Now I haven't updated that CJ regularly mainly because I dunno where to start from and of course I don't play SC4 that often. I do have some great ideas for my CJ, such as stories and what not, but dunno how to implement the technical stuff as well.

And of course, there's my city. Any other pictures you guys might need, just gimme a shout. =D

Thanks again!

Pretty nice region! Just looked at your CJ, and I have to say its a decent start. You got some buildings that are bit too repetitive. Try downloading more buildings.

OK, I've made my first official CJ, sorry if the custom part lacks, I'm working from my laptop and not my usual computer.....

Awesome improvement! All you need to do is add more high-rises and less repetition and you got yourself a decent city! :golly:

I uploaded those pictures 2 months ago, but no response

Here are 4 older cities made by me. They look nuts, but all of them are based on scientific plans, philosophical thoughts e.t.c..

That last picture reminded me of The Springfield Dome from the Simpsons movie where the goverment isolates Springfield because of its pollution by a large dome....

You can download GIMP, it's completely free and has many of the features of Photoshop, actually it's got everything you need for CJ picture editing or BAT texture creating. :thumb:
