Well, this will be my first CJ, so I figured I would start out with a bang.  I will be posting pics as I go along, and I kinda started this CJ a little late, as I started this City last night. Anyways, I will begin explain some things before I show off my screen shots and get them together on here.   I will post them after this one, since I have so many pictures to show, and really I play SimCity 4 way too much, so the updates might be fast, but I will be updating daily or every other day most likely.



What made me think of this Region and City name?

Well, I was working on a Region named Realistic, which I was trying my best to make Realistic looking, from the main city center, to the farms in the outskirts, and the industries.  However, one day I was searching here on SimTropolis for beach sets, since I felt my Realistic needed beaches.  I then decided after getting the beach set, that I would try them out in my city, however there was no bouy's in the set, which had upset me.  So I created a new bouy set to go with it.  (Forgive me whoever made the beach set, they will know who they are, but I just can not remember there name for the life of me.)  Anyways, after messing with the beach set and my bouy's I got this notion to create something new and uniuqe, with an idea I never thought of doing before.  Well sorta not before, I always wanted to make islands, but not one so small and 1 region in size.  So I decided to come up with this sweet little Island.  The idea for the name... well lets just say it felt and sounded Island like to me.  I wanted a name that seemed Island related.  So thats how I came up with the idea and name.

What sets are you using?

Good question, I have so many sets I am using that I can not mention them all, so forgive me if I miss anyone on the list of MODs and Bats.

The ones I have to thank mosts are the following:

PEG Productions, Pegasus
Who ever made NAM, forgive me again for forgetting your name.
The Beach Set I got, forgive me for forgetting your name as well.
Who ever made the Expanded UI mod.
Jrn's Shore conforming sea walls.
GDV's Mayor Tropical set
GDV's Hut houses
and many others, but I want to thank PEG the most becuase without any of his Lots, SimCity 4 would not be as addictive as it was.

Did you cheat in making this?

Yes!  I have to, to make what I want, I am not after stradgy in this game, I am after Model design, kinda like building your own train set with all the pieces.  Thats how I treat SimCity.  I also made my Casino give $500,000 a month! So thats one of the cheats I used.

Cheats I used in order:

Custom Casino I did, gives $500,000 a month.
howdryiam cheat
fightthepower cheat
you don't deserve it cheat

Why only a 1 city region?

I wanted the challenge, well challenge to me, since I cheat anyways, to make 1 city, and only 1 city that is Large in size for one region.

Where did you get the terrain for your City?

Well, I don't have photoshop anymore, so I use Paint Shop Pro, I did a gray scale of the terrain, and worked very hard making sure I had soft edges for pefect beaches, and wanted that nice C shaped Island as you see in the above pic. The fine cliffs I did in game with terrain tools and Mayor tools.

This is the gateway into the harbor area, where you can see PEG's buetifull lighthouses out on the deep shores.

Here, you will see to the West of the gateway, the West Keys of this buetifull Island, which is complete, and peacefull, will add more to the West beaches later on.

Next two shots are of the beaches on our West Key close up, along with hut houses.  A very nice beach if I do say so myself.

Next sight to see would be the greatest place of all, and most buetifull!  Its right near the Seaport.  Can we say snorkle?

Why not have visitors now and then?  The not so big, but big enough airport. (Speaking of which I forgot to mention who ever made this airport set too! Again I am deeply sorry!)

Well I see there are no reply's... Hopefully people on this site are still enjoying these pics of my city when they do see them.

Well I got an update, my second update, but I am not going to go into details, just mostly region view, plus some future plans I have on expansion of this small region.

Here, you will see the update region view!


Here is the street map, showing where the highway is, and the streets of my region. (It's a pretty big screen shot, 800x800, but gives a general idea of the transportation grid.)


Yes, now you see all this, the map is getting pretty dense in population. The population now is 42,000 plus!


Here is my idea of future expansion, and what is already in place.  The Green Represents the Residential areas, light or medium.  The Yellow marks the Industrial areas.  and the Red/Blue ring represents downtown and where most of my commercial business are.


If there are any requests for close up's I will show them.  But for now this is todays update.  I will be showing more details later today or tomorrow.

You are off to a good start, I like your buoys!  You might try using the beach fill in tiles to blend those hard lines underwater a little better.  Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I could not find beach fill in tiles, so I am using Reefs and rocks to cover those lines up better.

Well Rean2, I think this is what will happen.  Here is my final update, if anyone wishes to request farther updates, or have ideas on what I should do next with this city, let me know.

This type of C.J. reminds me of SC2000 I'm not sure what to expect,but so far i liked what I have seen from this journal!

Here are some close ups, as you can see it is very dense, and tall skyscrapers.  If I am not mistaken, those are stage 8 buildings! I do not even have 500,000 population and I have those buildings!

I was running out of space so I made 2 Islands, and a connection out of the region to boost the invisble demands!  Here is the first Island I made, it is fully industrial, and I made it becuase Industrial demand got high!!

I wanted to make another Island for population reasons, plus the fact Commercial demand was getting higher!  I might have to replace some residentials in downtown later with Commercials to satisfy that demand better.

Industrial demand was still high, plus my population was stagnating at 70k, so I added this little industrial sector, and later added subway systems through all islands in this city, and let the city run over night.  I have 1.5 billion dollors in money, and have enough to do what ever I want with this city.

It looks like I am going to hold off on the tour... but I will post it sometime soon, when I got time.  Lately I been busy with models in BAT and trying to make highway embankments... So sorry for the inconviences!

Well I downloaded some custom Lots, I wonder if that would improve the population, brb going to run the city then take some screen shots if there are any improvements...
