Installing BAT. System can't find file.

I am trying to apply the SC4Update4BAT.exe to my Builder Architect Tool, but when I run it, it keeps saying this, "Old File not found", when it is trying to look for SimCity_1.dat.  Well, I am literally looking inside my SimCity4 folder, and its right freaking there, staring me in the face as plain as day.  What the heck is the problem???

Its not the most helpful error message, it means it can't find the SimCity_1.bat file with the old date, in otherwords your files are up-to-date so it doesn't need to replace anything

Also, a coulple other things...

First, since you are installing the BAT update, do you already have the EP1 update installed? It does need to be installed first. If you're not sure, you can check the properties of the game's exe file in the C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps folder. If the EP1 update has been applied, the game should have a version number of 1.1.638. If the BAT update has already been applied, the version will be 1.1.640.

Second, this type of error often comes up if the game's original files have been altered, such as having a no-cd patch installed. If this is the case, you'll need  to install the game's original files to apply the patches.

Actually, my version reads 1.1.613 when looking at it from the .exe properties.  But when I went to one of the SIm City 4 patch pages, which detected which version of the game I currently had, it read build 640.  This is really getting horribly confusing.  I no longer am sure if I updated my game properly and I spent hours, days trying to get this game installed and updated properly... 

All I know is that I ran all the SKU updated from this link, simcity.ea.com/update/index_update.php

Whoa!  I think that version is pure vanilla SC4 with no expansions.  Are you running Deluxe or Rush hour?

If so, the proper patch order is to get the EP1 update for your region where the game was purchased, then to add the BAT update.  None of this will work on the pure vanilla game.

So apparently, I have no idea where or what the EP1 update is then I guess. Can someone link me to it? I have Deluxe edition btw.

I've seen this 613 version pop up in the forums now and then. It seems I remember it being a version of Deluxe, but you may need a different update than SKU1 (maybe SKU2) from the website you linked to in your above post. I can't say I'm real sure about this. I'll have to dig around for that 613 reference.

Also, is it possible that you have used a no-cd patch on your game? If so, the game will not update. It wil only update original game files.

No, when I reinstalled the game last, I knew about the issues that the no-cd patch, so I decided not to apply it this time.

From what I've been able to find, 1.1.613 may be the European version of SimCity 4 Deluxe (or maybe SC4 + RH) and needs the SKU2 patch to update to 1.1.638. Here's another place to get the updates if needed. (Link)

Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I needed. The BAT update worked without hassle after I patched with SKU2. Unfortunately, the hope was that it would help with my CTD issue, but it still hasn't... =(

Isn't there an update that brings the version up to 1.1.640?
