in case you're using GMAX BAT pay attention to the naming. "nitelite" preffix is used only with actual lights to turn them off during day view and turn them on during the night one. Night windows, on the other hand are prefixed with "night" and must be real geometry.

If you are using SC4 B.A.T. for gmax:

For an actual gmax light, such as the omni lights or spotlights, you must use the prefix "nitelite."  Hence, an omni light named "OmniPorch" needs to be renamed "niteliteOmniPorch" for it to show at night.

To use the pre-made, yellow-greenish-blueish night textures Maxis supplied with SC4 B.A.T. gamepack for gmax as a fast way to make basic lit windows in night views, you must enable the night window texture setting for that modelled object.  You do not use the prefix here, but instead enable the night texture as a parameter:

Select whatever object you want lit, such as the glass pane for a window.

With that object still selected look to the top menu bar and open the B.A.T. utility panel.

In the B.A.T. utility panel, open the "Parameters" rollout.

In the "Parameters" rollout, look for the category block "Night Windows."

In the "Night Windows" block, find the category block "Selection."

In the "Selection" block, toggle the checkbox marked "Enable."  This is only available if you currently have an object selected.

Just below the "Enable" checkbox, choose an "Intensity," with 1.0 being the brightest and 0.1 the dimmest.

If you want to change the color of the night window texture from the default yellow, choose a color from the dropbox just above the "Selection" category block.

You can do this process individually for each object you want lit by the Maxis night textures, or you can select multiple objects and then do the process once to apply the same parameters to all the selected objects.  However, to have varying intensities across different objects, you will have to adjust the Intensity setting for each object individually.  There are limitations to using the pre-made night textures...among other things, they will likely not show through from behind transparent objects, and they will not emit light like an omni or spotlight.

If you are using BAT4Max, the process is very different.

Hope this helps.

Then set the decay to Inverse Square at 4 then put the multiplier up to around 4 to 6. Place it in realistic places so they don't look goofy. As a tip, make window panels translucent.

Sorry to but in out of the blue, but if you follow this https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=113499&STARTPAGE=2&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear It will work, unless it is a problem with settings or GMAX.

I also made it deal with lighting up shapes, which saves the bother of making lights. (Although lights make it look awesome.)
