I would so love to stay up and watch this, but I have to be up at 6:30 in the morning, sooo....

For anyone keeping track, this is the first Lunar Eclipse to fall on the Winter Solstice since 1378.

Don't eclipses occur every other year? My favorite was when the moon turned red.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

It's due around here within the hour. The sky to the east looks clear, so I'll have to see if I can see it.

The last one I saw was two years ago.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

Just as I was heading home from work tonight to watch the eclipse, freakin' dense fog rolled, making it less than 1/4 mile visibility here in San Antonio 15.gif

Sadly, cloud built up in the east here too, so I could not see it.

..i live in Newark, Delaware EST...i watched periodically for 5 hours, it was an incredible event, not a cloud in sight....i stood for 20 mins with binoculars as the last sliver of light subsided into a grayish red...

...lunar eclipses are NOT rare, they do happen almost every two years (but they are only partial eclipses)..

.the last TOTAL (full) lunar eclipse visible in the northern hemisphere happened in the 1600's.

.at 3:17 EST, when the moon was completely buried by reddish shadows, the sky opened up to an even more spectacular sight...the constellation of Orion and the opposition of Jupiter...its was powerful..
