Ploppable landmarks with residents?

Same question I wanna ask for a long time. I heard we can use buildingprop cheat to forcefully prop the buildings you want to, residential or not. And I heard that sometimes the propped buildings became abandoned more often. Can anyone clarify more on this?

The game engine is incapable of plotting paths from plopped lots. Since the game cannot find jobs for the residents of the building you just plopped down, it abandons. Now, the idea of plopping residential ploppables over already grown residential lots is that the game will use the paths already used by the grown residential sims to get to work and not abandon; there are some who claim this works, but it even if it did it would be very unstable system.

Even ploppable commercial and industrial buildings don't work properly. They won't abandon, and actually provide jobs, but you might notice that the number of customers will be always "low". The game was simply not designed for this. The "BuildingPlop" cheat that comes with the Extra Cheats DLL is more or less a development tool, allowing lot designers to plop their growable lots in the game, in order to check if they look ok and such. It was never meant as a cheat for the players in the first place.

Didn't you read His Divine Hand's reply? The in-game traffic simulator can't provide paths from ploppable residentials to any job occasion, this means the residents in those buildings are not able to go to work. Unemployment means abandonment in SimCity, as those sims leave the city again. As I said, the game simply wasn't designed for this.
