I've played it before and still have it. It was addicting. I got most of the HQ buildings for most of my businesses in the city at least at stage 7 and one or two of them at 8. I enjoyed the landmarks too, with most of Times Square, the Woolworth building, Empire State Building, Chrysler, and the others. I liked the events too, the parades, and the concerts. The Thanksgiving Parade was cool but I think I liked the Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village the best.

I've got a problem. I can't imropve buildings with charakters and banners. Can anybodey tell me, which building can be improved with that?

No it's great, because of the graphics and the diversity of buildings and the general gameplay.

Is this game in the Tycoon series, like roller coaster tycoon, zoo tycoon etc.

Not real, you've got the transportsystem but you can build buildings and improve them, sights of New York City and, if you play the career, you have to complete challenges.

Most likely because not all buildings in the game have characters and banners. Though, there is banners like the red, blue, white, and the other two long flags in decorations. You could also be out of upgrade points which from what I remember are earned from population growth.

you've got the transportsystem

Technically you don't since that's mainly run by itself(the actual city and simulation, your money and businesses have no control over that). But you can place buildings that offer Taxi services or Bus Tours. The roads are pre-developed and the landmark lots are all ready placed(though they must be built by you, they appear at first in the regular game mode as construction sites).

I also liked the competitors that would build buildings at the same time as you do. Or at a slower or higher pace(depending on if you choose so if you start sandbox mode, or you can just disable competitors). I would always place buildings I wouldn't use in places as place holders to keep competitors from building HQs in places I would build my own HQs or other buildings.

Ah it reminds me of when I was playing, I had skyscrapers in the Financial District and in Midtown, had all the row homes and shops in Greenwich Village, Lowereast Side, and Chinatown. It was fun adding the low-whealth shops too.

darn, now i just tried reinstalling this game, it wouldn't work stupid DRM, i lost the product key long ago so i had no luck playing it again

The Game does no allow you to purchase the Memorial park , only the city own it , and it's also non customizable.
