Yesterday i had to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Edition because i added 2gb more ram to my PC for a total of 4gb and Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit wasnt recognizing all of it. But now i cant seem to be able to get my CitiesXL 2011 back... Theres no option on the website for existing players to get their game back if for some reason they have to reformat or install Windows all over again. I bought it from the site and used Metaboli to D/L it and install it. How do i get my game back! Please Help!

I wish I knew what to tell you other than "I have no clue, maybe you should have backed up your computer." Maybe Steam lets you redownload, I have no clue because I never used it. I already upgraded my computer but I save important files elsewhere. I would recommend at least Carbonite next time.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I guess it's no use asking if you keep Metaboli's e-mail with the cd-key (it should also contain the download links).

But I think your best shot is to contact Metaboli Customer support. Head to the Tech Forum for the link.

And by the way, Steam lets you re-download as much as you want. The client keeps track of which game is installed on your machine, and which is not - in the second case you have the option to install it again. Pretty handy 9.gif

Well, I had all my keys and links through an email I got from Focus when I bought the game. Did you lose that email as well?

I don't know about Metaboli (seems like it was lucky for me that the shop wouldn't take my card) regarding redownloads, but Steam and Direct2Drive both allow to to redownload as many times as you need to.

Lesson here: Don't buy online games from anywhere that doesn't link your purchases to some kind of persistent account.

I never delete emails (not even embarrassing ones), I only manage my spam folder.

    Hint: Google translate.

I downloaded the game. I eschewed Focus' "kind" offer to avail myself of first downloading their download client and instead used my own (the DownThemAll add-on for Firefox) and have the two installation files totalling almost 4GB safely archived on two different hard drives and will burn to disc when I can be bothered. Downloading anything is always risky, but careful planning should always avert most disasters. If you don't have access to original installation files, one can still make a back-up copy of the Program Files folder to burn to hard storage, along with a copy of any relevant registry entries so that the game can be forcibly and manually reinstalled. So long as one still has the original unlocking key this should work in 999 cases out of a thousand.
