Some weird texture errors

Hey folks, I've been experiencing some weird graphical glitches playing SC4 Deluxe on 10.6.4, glitches that didn't happen under 10.4 (which was the last time I actually played it since I'd heard about some glitches that 10.5+ caused with it). I have the RH Update1 installed, as well as NAM, folders are named properly, etc.

In this screenshot, you can see that the streets in some commercial and residential zones have attempted to camouflage themselves by matching their surroundings; oddly, they look completely normal if I zoom in more. To the right, we have an agricultural zone turned completely white, which appears white no matter what zoom I use (and note, also, that the one right next to it is not white). Any ideas how to fix these?

Hmm.. this is odd, which is why there's been no reply. You mention you are running version 10.6.4, but a fully updated version of the game is 1.1.640.0. Check if you have fully updated the game or installed the correct region updates (instructions HERE and HERE). Also, try changing your in game render settings from hardware to software (or the other way around) and check for graphics driver updates.

EDIT:  Oops, just noticed this was in the Mac forum.

jim 546, 10.6.4 is the operating system.

The only option that I can think of at the moment is switching the rendering settings, either from hardware to software, or software to hardware. There is also a graphics card file around here somewhere, however I can't find it at the moment. Tell me if the render setting switch helps, and if not then I'll help you out with a better fix.

I have the same problem just that I have a 10.4.11 as an operating system. Your not alone thats for sure.

Also is that you don't have a texture problem with the arrows and sidewalks on one way roads. I do have mac.

Yes, it happened the same to me when i played in a mac. I don't know what causes the problem. Now that I changed to a windows, I don't have the same problem. I find that using sc4 with a mac is too glitchy.

When I was playing on my Parent's Intel iMac (because my PPC PowerBook had a bad screen) I had similar problems. I remember that a lot of it was as issue with the Universal Binary update, which screwed up the Endieness of some data, or at least read it wrong. Using the vanilla PPC version helped, because Rosetta seemed to do a better job at the conversions. Furthermore, there were some attempts at adjustments to the ini files and the preferences that seems to have helped, along with a new graphics controller file. I'm not sure where they are, except they are in the threads here in the Mac section of the forum. 90% of these issues are caused because Aspyr has not done the proper work for an Intel version of SC4, and likely will not, since EA is doing their own Mac compatible versions. The other 10% is simply the new graphics cards that Apple is using, some of which use architectures that weren't even dreamed up when SC4 was released.

how did you make a snow work with the files? I think it was a FSH file with it.

I have the same problem but worse. Now that I got the new Mac Mini I have what you have but on steep slopes there random buildings in a black backround, One way roads are sometimes replaced with a full white texture on zooms 4 to 6 and Low density Low wealth Small cabin in zoom 4 is replaced with a white square or this small tower with a brick

I had the same issue. Blank terrain would show up as buildings at weird angles, kinda like a Pink Floyd concert gone bad. I solved it by running it in Fusion. Serendipity- it runs faster too.
