Hi everyone

The description says it all! Lets try and break the record for the amount of people online! We will do it on the 30th of November to leave people plenty of time.

First of all, I can't say for sure, but I think that is an error or something that record, and who isn't to say that someone maybe gone on November 30? And the site bogs down enough with 60 members online let along more then 2000...

This was attempted quite recently and it didn't succeed, mainly due to to the current record being the result of a forum glitch. On the day we attempted the record the most people online was about 85. I don't see that there is any need to attempt this in such a short amount of time since the previous attempt.  Sorry to burst your bubble.

As far as I recall, this was the chat attendance record, which peaked 90 users... In all the time I've been active on ST I've never heard of a "just-to-be-logged-in" record.

Then, as we're reading, we could consider the figure of 2302 users logged in on 2/26/2008 as an unbreakable record? Maybe ST 5.0 allowed such a large amount of people here. I wasn't active on forums then, could anyone explain under which conditions was this record achieved? Was this a record attempt or just a bunch of people were logged in ST by chance?

I remember this record attempt as I actually logged in and checked the number during the alotted time frame.  I think it was around 85 users logged in.  I'll do some looking around for the thread.

EDIT:  HERE IS THE THREAD.  The record was 53.  I got the chat record marker mixed up with the peak for this record attempt 46.gif .

Yeah, I wasn't a user back then, but I can't imagine the extreme lag of over 2000 members on at the same time! For people with slow processors, that could crash their computers!

Go ahead and try this, but be warned of what could happen.

The current "record" is caused by a glitch in the old forums (possibly still here) that would count a user as logged in for long after they'd closed their session down, gradually this would build up until it reached the current number. There's never actually been 2302 people online at once and I don't think ST could support that many users at once.
