I've been lurking at this thread for quite a long time now. I'd better get out of the closet and admit myself to be a roadgeek as well. A lot of great signs in here! It's actually funny to see the improvement from the early pages of this thread.

Anyway, these are two experimental signs from me, to be seen along the A-1 in my CJ. They are heavily based on actual Norwegian signage.

Pre-sign of Aaden Kreuz, the A-1 and A-11 interchange:

[...]

Nice signs! Is that the Swedish Tratex font you're using?

I just do what I've always done, upload it to imageshack and link it.

Just curious, what's the problem with ImageShack?

most of all images that hosted by ImageShack don't show.

I think it's better to use photobucks or something like that

@NTM, you might want to update your links

I think I am going to replace those with links to Mrtlrlrn's sign tutorial, SC4 Dot, etc.

I attepted to make this sign(Which I photographed a couple of years ago in DC), into a sign stlye that matches my UC Style.....

@nathanthemayor: Seems that none of the links you posted in your original post linking to the signs doesn't work (good idea, BTW). I guess that his has happened because the whole site has changed, and, even though the links to threads work; this doesn't happen with links to specific posts...

@Blue Lightning: That's a very cool job! And with vectorial graphics!

Blue Lightning: Excellent work. Best signs (especially the support frame) I've seen yet,

I will start redoing all the links to specific signs tonight. I got that idea from the Airports thread(RoflYoshi hasn't updated it in a while).

Well... a little while since I last posted a sign.

Here's two new ones, based on Metroad Change signs here in Queensland which are uncommon, but used where one motorway turns into another for naming, routing, speed or status reasons. (Though, sometimes the Motorway/Highway name isn't on the sign, only the route shield)

These are set in 2002, back when END speedsigns (denoting speedlimit reversion to the Rural Speed Limit, generally 110km/h) were still common on more rural roads.

In more urban areas, the two are usually teamed together in a rectangular 2+1 sign, using the supports of a destination sign, instead of two separate signs.

    annerley_motorway-arterial.jpg

As you can probably tell, the signs are for the opposing directions of the same road.

I decided that I will not do the links as it will take too much time and will get crammed later on.

^^ Well, sort of, but the context is correct. "Kehr um!" (Schellingen uses the German language) would mean "Return" or "Turn around". This sign is placed at freeway exits to warn people they are driving the wrong way and they should turn around. The yellow-greenish background makes the sign more noticable.

    I haven't seen anyone try this - http://www.kurumi.com/roads/signmaker/index.html

I have found that Kurumi's SignMaker makes some nice US style signs, and if you download the application, you can modify the shields file to use your own custom shields, albeit it is somewhat difficult.

Ah, yes. Signmaker. I used to use it (as shown in my previous uploads). It's great for normal US signs, but I mainly make California-style signs, and the layout can get a little funky sometimes, so I use Illustrator instead to make my signs.

Well, there are certain reasons I don't use SignMaker:

    - It's limited to US/Canada signs only

    - The arrows are incorrect (too blocky, which would only fit on belgian signage)

    - It doesn't offer too much freedom

    - The color shades are in my opinion bad.

    - InkScape offers more freedom

    Nice set of signs NTM.

I'm wondering, has anyone considered making highway signs as Mayor Mode ploppable flora?

Yup . . . . David (dedgren) has experimented with some of that stuff in his Three Rivers Region project over on SC4D.
