Uniroyal Tire looks very realistic. Ford Field looks so sweet as always. Looking forward to the uploading of Uniroyal Tire to the STEX.

I was a little worried about the tire treads but I'm amazed at how well it turned out. I'm going to render it tonight when I go to bed. It should be finished at some point tomorrow. It will be super easy to make the lot as there is really nothing on it except grass. I plan on it sitting on a landmark lot.

    SUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHH------WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

Those tire treads look awesome.  I'm glad they came out.

Soon, I will need to discuss night lighting with you.  But not until a few days from now.

hmm, are you sure you can't go back an re-do the lighting, its just too dim, but it's still incredible. Awesome job!

I found an awesome tire tread texture a while back when I was first attempting this. I had to play with the mapping a bit but it wasn't too diffcult. To get the treading on the side I just turned the texture 90 degrees and mapped it accordingly.  If you look at the model on the previous page you can see how I overlaid some of the cylanders and toruses to acheive what I  wanted. As for the texture itself, I'm going to post it in the official thread as I think it is one of the best ones out there (trust me I  searched long and hard for a good one)

One more thing, I fixed the night lighting for the text on the tire. I messed up a little bit when I first did it but now it works great. Here's the new night picture---

Yeah there are red lights on top of an antenna like structure at the top of the tire. I tried to put them on there but it didn't show up hardly at all so I omiited them. The only way to have them there anyways would be to make it separate entity and import it as you are limited to one color for nightlighting per model. Unfortuanately its just not worth it as it barely shows up. The only way they would show is if I oversized them.

    Thanks ert. I appreciate that44.gif

Spiderman, I hope to have it uploaded tomorrow. I'm going to start rendering it here in an hour or so. It's pretty heavy on the polygons so it may take a while. My guess is it will take anywhere between 12-16 hours to render. But that's only a guess. Once rendered it will only take me 5 minutes in the LE. It will have no props or such as it sits on the an asphault lot in real life, which is already modeled. All I got to do is stick it on a grass lot and be done with it. So hopefully at some point tomorrow it will uploaded.

Nice tire!  I remember buzzing that a few times playing Flight Simulator.  Conveniently located on the way to downtown from DTW!

Now you need now is to complete one of the auto plants (not sure if one has been finished already?)

BD, Great job on the Tire and thanks for the other updates!  It looks like you are really getting the hang of the BAT.

Farminsim, the State Theater is coming along nicely and you are doing a great job of modeling it.  This is in close competition for my most anticipated project!

Wolverine, what can I say about Ford Field that hasn't already been said.  Great Job, and hopefully we'll see some more updates soon :)

As for my project, I replaced the motherboard in my PC and I think my problems are now fixed.  I tried to play around with my model, but had some issues with some BAT settings that Ardecila change that I need to figure out how to fix.  I the meantime, I started another project, which I will probably throw out an update later in the week if I continue to find time for the BAT.

Ert, look at the marque2.gif  It's the State Theater which is on Woodward, 1 block south of the Fox.  It's directly across from that stupid parking lot (better than a parking deck) in front of Comerica Park.  I hope this helps.

As for my next project, it's a secret for now!  I'm pretty sure I will end up doing it, but I just want to see how it progresses.  It will/should be recognizable to most Detroiters and hopefully y'all will know by next Sunday as I still have a lot of post wedding stuff to take care of.

OK, I just didn't know if that was some kind of nickname or something. As you guys know, I live near Lansing so I rarely make a visit to D - Town. Except when the Pistons win the championship. 9.gif

Spiderman, Comerica, being modeled by jondecker, is somewhat on hold to my knowledge. I'm not sure if its due to his moving or since he may have to remodel it.

The Uniroyal tire is now complete and uploaded on to the exchange. You should see it there shortly.

I'm not sure what I'm going to tackle next. There are several different things I still have on my to do list so we'll see....

It's either going to do the Tim Hortons or Applebees...not sure yet. I'm going to forge ahead with one of those until I can get some pictures of the roof at Hockeytown. I need that to aid in the modeling because I'm not sure how offset the heights in the roofs are, how big the rooftop bar area is, and where the roof junk is located. I've only been there twice so doing it from memory will not work. Also, Michigan Stadium is on hold. I hit a glitch with it and I'm not in the mood to fix it yet as it may prove to be quite difficult.

Alright, sounds like a plan. I have been waiting too long for pictures of one woodward, and I can't stand being away from the BAT for so long, so I am going back into it now, what project I will do I cannot say for sure..

Budweiserdude, I have a picture of Hockeytown that might help you out.  I don't have any of the roof though.  Someone who is the D may have to go up to the top of the parking deck next to it to take pictures.

Farminsim, the State is looking superb.  I see you're beginning to add the detail work to your structure, and it's looking excellent.  Keep up the good work.

Spidey, I'm sorry I couldnt dig up any more one woodward photos.  Allan got some more, but he is currently moving to Southfield and I haven't been able to get a hold of him.  If you do intend to work on it again, apparently there isn't much roof junk.  Just very large boxy AC units  that nearly occupy all the space up there.  Just shoot for what you think it may look like.  Other than that, I'll try looking for more pics.

Baldy  I laughed about your comment on the stupid parking lot across from the State theatre.  The demolition of the Wolverine Hotel and the structures behind it were a stab to the heart of the city of Detroit.  It basically shortened Woodward's high urban atmosphere by 3 blocks.  The actual stadium didn't even interfere with those buildings.  Mr. Illitch just wanted people to be able to see all of his creation in the downtown.  I can't believe people actually think that guy is a saint to the city.  Yeah, he's helped out the Wings and made Foxtown a little prettier.  But what about the dozens of massive buildings downtown that he owns?  All of them define Detroit as they are visible in the skyline.  And nearly 75% of them have fallen into severe disrepair.  The more they become neglected, the more they become structurally compromised, and we know what that means:  more gravel parking lots.  If I ever see all these gems get leveled to the ground, I may just become a Carolina Hurricanes fan.  Because it seems like their owner has more interests in fixing Detroit up.

Okay, that all got a bit out of hand.  I apologize for the rant.  I hope to put up an update late tonight, although most of the work has focused on that massive glass roof behind the tower, which is difficult to see.

Anyways, keep up the good work.

Well then I will be checking back later to see the update of Ford Field. I got back into BAT but quit very fast because I still have some serious issues with the texturing.32.gif
I will try to continue to work on the 1WA, but I dunno if anything will get done, and I have noticed a lot of tiny columns that run up and down the whole building that I am not sure if you are going to be able to see in-game so we'll see if that gets put into the model or not.

Spiderman, I can try to help you with your texturing problem as best I can. I'm going to be on and off ST all night...try this, after you texture something, save, close and reopen the bat completely, then preview it in the low setting, not export, just preview. Let me know if the textures show up in the preview as it will let me know where your problem may lie.

Wolverine, that's the best picture I have seen of Hockeytown. I've searched everywhere online and was not able to find any decent pictures of it. That at least gives me an idea of where to start. I may have to head sowntown here soon and snap some shots of various things. Anybody want to head down there and meet for a lunch or something anytime soon instead of trying for the Tigers game?

I can't wait until you start Hockeytown bud. This is the first time I've sen the building and I must say something with all of those cuts and corners would look SUWHEET in SC4! Especially the Red Wings logo and the puck. 3.gif
