Installation Issue

I have been reinstalling SimCity 4 several times now, and something isn't right. For me to install SimCity 4, the original 2 discs go first, and then Rush Hour EP. My main concern is the original discs.

The first disc installs all files needed, then asks for the second disc. Everything is fine from there on in, until disc 2 finishes. As those files were done, the installer closes. Isn't the first disc supposed to go back in?

But that isn't the only problem. Since the installer crashes, I therefore assume that the game works with the second disc in. Am I wrong?

But all is solved when Rush Hour is installed... Why does "Disc 2" fail on me?

First of all, you leave the second disc in there. Cause right after it is done installing it launches the game. Also when it asks for disc 2 put it in before you press OK.

We may need a bit more information. What are some of the specs on your computer?

Disc 2 is the playing disc. If disc 2 is not in, you cannot play the game. Disc 1 is basically an installer and file disc, because of the rather older technology, there was too many files for just one disc when they started producing the game. If you fully installed it, and its on your computer, put disc 2 in your driver, go to your shortcut or into your documents and click on Sim City 4. You should get a loading screen and then it goes into the game. Good luck

Of course, there is only one disk for Rush Hour, but do remember to do the necessary updates from the EA site.  Without them, the game is very unreliable.

The second disc is left in, but the installer closes, and the game won't load. Even when the CD has been reinserted. BTW, the specs very. Generally the computer is my Desktop. nVidia GeForce4 MX 4000, 80GB HDD, 512MB RAM. Ubuntu via WINE, or Windows XP SP3.

Currently, Parallels VM, XP SP3, 64GB VHDD, 1GB VRAM, 256 VGRAM. It works, but had to get RH installed!
