I have it. The links between it and CXL are pretty clear (heck, CXL still has references to the CL subcultures in its files), but CXL is a better and more realistic game.

i have city life and play it more than i do cities xl.... i like how the borders work on city life buying more land and whatnot and i can say that i hate how in xl you can only put certain things in certain places (ie, fuel, farming, water ect) simcity 4 is my favorite game though!

our world is a simcity

I like how land is acquired and how the "region" could range from 51.2 meters to 20.48 kilometers. The buildings were also very beautiful. I loved the futuristic Suit buildings and the fanciful, elegant, and fantastic (great+fantasy) Elite buildings. I do hope that this "700+" building count includes City Life buildings (possibly a tad bit enhanced).

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I had City Life, but my old PC caught on fire and I didn't reinstall it. I enjoyed the different cultures, although it was a shame that you had to have giant slum regions. It was very satisfying when you got the elite buildings 4.gif I think Cities XL is much better, as my citizens don't try to kill each other as much, the graphics are nicer and you have more control on where things go. Apart from resources.

I also had City Life. Unfortunately, I quit the game after I built only a handful of cities :\. Really, the game's not interesting anymore once you finally have all the maps in City Life.

In my only big city in City Life, I had trouble employing Fringes and Blue Collars because most of them have been replaced by Radical Chics and Suits respectively. Even my Fringe and Blue Collar neighbourhoods have been swallowed 15.gif.

Yeah, it was funny how half the city could get destroyed just because somebody moved into the wrong neighborhood for 5 minutes. Then again, based on what I've heard about real-life race riots, that might be an accurate recreation in the game.

I have played both CL and CXL (I was in the beta). CXL was more realistic, but CL was far more stable. I was never able to master either of them. The off-angle roads were genious, however. SimCity 5 should have this feature.

To boldly build where no one has built before.
