Downloading DEMs

Hello all. I have been trying to follow the tutorials on the Omnibus for downloading DEMs. The site where the DEMs come from has been updated recently and I am not entirely sure which of the DEM files to download. There are several. I see people are using the 1/3 arc. Is that the only one I need to download?

I am trying to make a map of the area in which I live. Any help would be appreciated.

I was trying to follow the "How To Make Scale Accurate Realistic Regions from USGS Data" tutorial but really can't as the type goes off the edge and is not readable. I have been guessing and experimenting to see if I can get a map to work. Thanks again

What area are you wanting to map?  As for the 1/3 arc data, that's only available for U.S. territories, the best you can get for the rest of the planet is 1 arc, the worst is 3 arc.
