Mass Transit problems! HELP!

I've been having some trouble with my mass transit system. Subways and bus stops are fully functioning but trains and their rails, and elevated train stations and their rails remain untouched, 0% usage no matter what! I have installed the NAM mod so I don't know if that's relevant.

So, for example, if I build a train station and connect it to the rail, its completely useless since no one boards. But if I demolish it and build a bus stop or a subway station the transit action begins.. I like to see trains going on rails! Help 15.gif

did you install the right direction for the NAM - if you have left hand drive (cars/buses/trains drive on the left) installation, then you have to tick that box in the nam installer.

Sorry hazsmix but that has nothing to with what he is asking at all.

Now it sounds like you need to adjust your routes.

Sims are very picky even with Nam, make sure your stops are where sims live and take them to where they want to go. For best use, I recomend having bus stops near the stations so sims can take the bus to/from the stations as well. Double by using the commuter shuttle service and that will also help.

Also check your lines, if they go to far out of the way or not directly to where they want to go or if other means of transportation seem faster then that is your hidden problem.

Actually, it could. Rail networks not being used is one of the symptoms of not having the correct drive-side version of NAM (Link).

Julianolicious, another thing to check is to see if vehicle traffic is crossing your rails at over/under crossings (if you have any). If vehicles don't seem to cross tracks, that's another sign that the wrong drive-side NAM component is installed. If NAM is correctly installed, then it is probably something to do with your particular network layout, as Markus J mentioned.

(And this question might have better been placed in the Transit Networks forum.)

I tried to build the rails around the train stations in some sort of roundabouts, and connected it with roads too. Still, did not work! If the NAM mod is installed in a wrong way, how do I fix it?

Ah yeah, the cars don't cross to the other side either, by the way.

First, you need to know what game version you have. Check the side of the road that your automata drive on. If left, then you will need to install NAM with the Left-Hand option. If the right, then NAM needs the Right-Hand component. This option is the first one when you run the NAM setup program.  If you discover you had installed NAM incorrectly the first time, you can delete your current Network Addon Mod folder and run the setup again. Before that, however, if you have any of the addon programs (SAM, HSR, etc.) in the NAM folder, you can save them to another location and replace them later.
