Can't connect to game server

I recently bought Cities XL (I know how silly of me) without realising MC had just gone under, anyway I see that the single player mode is still functioning fine for most people and that was all I was really interested in. 

I bought the game from Steam and the current version I have is 1.0.0.297. I've registered my copy etc etc but when I try and log in I get a connection error and the launcher itself says "Could not connect to the servers".

Oh joy. After reading this

Patch 1.0.1.457-B3 (314 mb)

Once the patch is downloaded double-click on it to install it, and restart the game"

From the game website I thought this might be the problem, however I have been unable to download this file due to it not seeming to exist any longer.... 

I have also downloaded pretty much every other file from the home page which all give me a version error message when I try and run them. 

Can anyone help me with this situation? I don't really enjoy wasting money in this fashion.

Download that patch from this site.... it's the same and the download works!

Nice one thanks, i'm reinstalling the game atm so will have to try it later. Do you know what the difference is between the B3 one and the B4 one? I'll try both anyway, just wondering.

But I remember that long time ago updates were also called c1, c2 or c3... but I never understood what was the difference!

  I also bought the game -- just two days ago, actually -- but when I try to add that patch it says my game is already up to date. Any thoughts?

There are only two options. You re-download the patch(you can not download the patch from the cities xl website or it will not work. Try using t\his link http://www.fileplanet.com/210450/210000/fileinfo/Cities-XL-Patch-v1.03.297-to-v1.1.0457-B4   .), or you re-install. If the patch still doesn't work, then re-install. This happened to me before and this is the only way I know of to fit this glitch. Sorry...

Hi everyone!! Can anyone please help me? I've recently purchased Cities XL.

I'm just interested in the single player part.

I've installed the game, Registered it. There are two .exe files. Cities_XL.exe   and Cities _XLGame.exe.

I've tried both .exe. Both ways I cant seem to connect.

I've tried downloading and installing the patches The patches arent installing, when I try,  the error messages state that the patches are incomplete files. I've been to the link provided higher up on this page, the B4.zip file doesn't unzip, the error message is basically saying that the file is possibly broken or not a .zip file.

I'm not having any luck, can anyone please help me?????? Please???

what is your current game version? it will be located on the launcer where you input your login name. you should be using the Cities_XL.exe for the launcher.

did you try the Patch 1.0.1.457-B3 (314 mb) link given on the first post? it's an executable file - not a zip; maybe that'll work. it also updates FROM version 1.0.3.297.

If you have bought the game off Steam, it should be updated, as it was for me, I purchased the limited edition, and I am up to date as of right after the download finished.
