i thought the avatar trap was fixed but i can try to see what you're all referring.

just to help out with your issues, do you have limited edition or not? what is the version number on that sign-in screen?

@wyllman: medieval is a thought, but i wanted to just make the additional xmas roads as addons only. but perhaps if everyone prefers the xmas roads as their own icon, without upgrades to other xmas road directions - but without their normal road counterparts, then i can easily just add the package and MS18 tags.

@at everyone: would you prefer that? xmas roads as their own buttons in the medieval road submenu? or xmas roads that are hidden but where you can easily upgrade a stretch of road into an xmas road of your choice?

To be honest, I'd rather have Christmas roads as a patch that I apply in the run up to Christmas and have it change all my roads over, then remove it once Christmas is over.

thanks for the suggestion. we can keep the chiristmas patch by itself and not merge it in with others so users can freely add/delete it from their paks folder. however, either way we organize it (i.e., in the medieval road submenu or in the regular road menu) the game will crash after you delete the patch - if your city has any of the xmas roads in it. this is because the christmas patch includes completely new .class files.

i also thought that globexco fixed the avatar bug. i have limited edition - and although i did get stuck in the avatar loft, the avatar did save after clicking the green check. however, the red 'x' didn't allow me to exit.

to bypass this, i just closed the game. you can do ctrl-alt-dlt then end-process, alt-tab then close, or F2 and then close.

then once restarting the game, i noticed that i could play the game and my avatar was still in the game. is this happening with you once restarting the game? does it allow you to save your avatar (and just not exit)?

As you said in another post on this page, I too have just been alt tabbing to the desktop and killing Cities XL in task manager for now.

did you try all the steps above?

also, what does your log file say? anything unusual near the bottom of the text?

the log folder is at C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Monte Cristo\Cities XL\log for vista/7  although you don't have to copy/past it here; just what does it say about the avatar phase?

one finaly question: does it say "avatar saved"? and if so, when you force close the game, then relaunch it, does it make you create a completely new avatar?

No, I don't see anything listes in the logs as avatar saved, mostly at the bottom I simply see:

[11:42:39] CORE mcFile.cpp ( 198) Error can't open file download/myusername.ava

[11:42:39] LIVE lavAvatarManager.cpp ( 591) Error [lavAvatarManager] AvatarSetDescription : unknown avatar "myusername"

However, when in the editor and pressing the green checkmark I do get the popup screen telling me that the avatar was saved, I've not had time to confirm it.

Edit: Yes the avatar did save and No, it didn't ask me to create a new one upon re-entering the game.  Just tried it now.

    Fixed by computer today, got started with Unlocker Mod, it's fantastic! Thanks a lot GlobexCo and the other developers!

    Got some time today, so I made this:

    It is just eye-candy, it are actually 2 lines on top of each-other 2.gif

    I was thinking more like the way MC did it - so it turned all your roads to Christmas roads and then back again automatically.  Assuing that they just backed up the old class file and dumped the Christmas one over the top of it?

    On the other hand, I am trying to add a button to the tab "Package" (For distribute personal class buildings).

    I managed to activate the chinatown, only visually problems.

    I try to "duplicate" chinatown button but the button doesn´t appear.

    Ok, I fixed (again) the avatar studio... and included in v3.

    (I left "hitCancel" on 0 ... = stop function of button)

    Everyone who has problems with avatar can see cancel button??

    I'll put on a video-tutorial tomorrow, on how to create these. There not working, just as the rails.

    Here is another picture, you might be able to figure out how I did it. No coding, just in-game (I'm no code-expect)

    stef42, which mods are you using this with? i just ask because certain mods try dealing with the rail issue, causing different texture glitches.

    update: i tested this method using unlocker v2 w/ hotfix and was able to do what you did! looks good 1.gif

    i even managed to do the same thing with the 40x15 road:

    I have the same as you, because I didn't have time yet to install road texture's etc.

    I've just added unlocker v2 with hotfix...

    Inside Modding Index (Click on the picture) there is a mod "More plazas (povis123)" ,this mod don't work perfectly........when i click in one plaza,the game jams!!!!

    can you fix this problem?

    Hi, Tanzy! I think I know what you refer to. The game doesn´t actually jam. It just takes half of eternity to process the area. But you can avoid that as follows: Go into the plaza menu. Choose a plaza. Then rotate your camerea until you have placed the menu icon straight above the area you want to fill. Then click that plaza icon and fill the area. The magic is not to touch any bigger area between the clicking of the icon and the filling. Because the game tries immediately to fill out any space once you selected a plaza and gets stuck. If it happens again anyway, try to wait a little while...But in extreme it can take up to 30 -60 seconds.

    bridge cannot be built over water, when i use plotting for high-tech industry (high density) a building named "large Material warehouse" pops up which requires more space. it turns into bankrupt and looks bad. any solution to these problem?

    thanks for letting me know mcsnetworks! i've actually never seen that building before - it's really nice. I suppose MC locked it because it "sometimes" has texture issues. when i had originally unlocked it, i didn't notice that it was a special (T4) building and thus placed it with the rest of the T3 buildings. Now it can be found in the correct hightech submenu - T4 section (for special buildings).

    i'll add it in with an updated version of the hotfix (found on STEX) if i get any more bugs; as for now you can just download the quick patch here: http://www.mediafire.com/?vzjmnynkwte

    There aren't parking to the open in this game!!!!

    Just a question, regarding the avatar studio issue, will there be a fix on it? I know there are ways to get around it, but will there be a fix for that soon?

    About avatar editor and other fixes... Unlocker Mod version 3 will be released (I plan to add an "incompatibility code" for the release of CitiesXL 2011... until we get an answer from Focus).
