BUG: New NAM: Zoom Out crashes to Desktop

Hello All, I'm very frustrated.  Ever since I downloaded the new NAM May 2010, everytime I Zoom Out it crashes to my desk top.

I had the prior NAM release (I beleive it was NAM APR 09) installed and it was working perfectly but once I installed the new NAM the zoom out problem began.

Do someone know what the problem might be?  Or has some else has had the same problem?

I'm sure someone can explain it better than me and the reasoning why... but my personal rule is to never play with zoom if I've got a transit enabled lot active in the menu. Seems to keep my crashing to a minimum.

It isn't because of the new NAM. You're just zooming out too quickly that the game can't "keep up" and then just crashes. Try zooming out, letting the city tile render, then continue zooming out. If it doesn't work, I'd suggest removing the new NAM then.

On my old computer I had a similar problem... Everytime i zoomed out my game would crash. It didn't have anything to do with any plugins though but happened because my drivers wasn't fully up-to-date. If this isn't the case, then follow jayman68's advice. Never zoom out when you're laying down puzzle pieces. You may accidentally hover it over a transit-enabled lot, which will crash the game instantly.

If you have pushed your cities/region to the max such that 'zoom crashes" are becoming an issue (and assuming it is not a driver issue) the best way to zoom SC4 is to get into the habit of "numberkey zooming". Instead of using the old mouse-wheel, hit the number key.. 1=farthest zoom, 6=closest zoom, etc. It is quick and precise and rarely causes "zoom crashing"

Zooming in and out while in the Subway or Zones view should always avoid crashing.

I used to have this problem; as Biriali suggested, it's often a graphics driver problem. For me, upgrading to a new computer with a new graphics card solved it completely; it never happens now. Short of that, it's good to make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date.
