Help with (Sunken) Highway Interchanges

Hi Everyone,

I know there's a few topics about this subject already but I'm having real trouble in trying to create the junctions I want and can't find an adequate answer.

Basically I'm wanting to create sunken highways that are connected to the road network by an overpassing roundabout. If you want to better understand what I'm after, a real world example is Junction 35 on the M1 or this one on the M5 %7Boption%7Dhttp://www.picturesofengland.com/img/L/1041238.jpg[/

I'm not after one of the circular roundabouts; i'd prefer it to be a circular one way road, crossing the highway twice. I've got NAM and the hole sinking lots.

Is there any way of doing this with the regular highway or is the only option to use RHWs?

Cheers!

I don't see why you couldn't accomplish that without using the RHW. I would think that you would have some trouble with the curves though. You may have to settle for a bit of diagonal. I'd give it a go myself, but my usual computer is in storage and I don"t have SC4 on the one I'm using. Perhaps you could show some pics of your personal results thus far. It might then be easier to help you out.

You can do a reasonable emulation of that intersection, but not a duplication with standard rushhour highways and the NAM. You will not be able to have the merges so close to the edge of the highway, but 2 or 3 tiles away and with mostly 90 degree intersections. It has been possible for many years. As you can imagine from the shot below, slight rearrangement of this would accomplish the same function using oneways over the highway.. you can of course play with the angles and etc to see what you can do

After seeing this question, I had a go on some quick-and dirty setups myself. 2.gif

Variant 1 uses the NAM ground-to-raised ramps:

A similar setup with the NAM one-way ramps:

You can go diagonal as well:

Hope these might give you some inspirations 1.gif

but mcdduel the stoplights contradict the whole advantage of free flowing roundabouts...and also the M5 juntion is left-hand driving..

left or right hand drive is irrevelant .. (as long as your system is properly set up).. and stoplights are pure eyecandy.. they do nothing in-game.. with work on it you can set up "merge" rather than intersections, but it may not be simple and will require considerably more real estate
