Random Crash to Desktop

So as you can tell, I'm not a newbie here, but I am having a bit of trouble with my game. At random times during game play my game will crash to desktop.

No, there seems to be no pattern behind it.

No, it's not for a specific region/city, but for any map and city I play on.

No, it never happened before mod's were added.

No, I can not tell you when it started, if I knew, I would have removed the most recent addon I added.

No, I can't search all of my plugins. I have thousands upon thousands of addons and it would be too long of a process to go through them all, especially when I don't know what causes the crash.

[Edited - Not allowed as per site rules - CaptCity], I OWN two copies of the game (sim city 4 + Rush hour and Sim City 4 deluxe) and am willing to show proof if wanted so please don't give me any lectures. And no, I'm sure that isn't the problem because it still does it when I play from a fresh install and with the same plugins added.

Do any of the experienced players have any tips on finding this problem?

Does it happen after you have placed puzzle pieces. Do you have Windows 7? Tell a bit more about your problem, it would make it easier to help you

Open your task manager and right click the SimCity4.exe process.  Click "set process affinity" and make sure only core 0 is checked.  This is a multi-core system issue.  The game is only built to run on a single core.

Based on your description it is highly likely your game is not up to the 638 patch (or better yet the 640). The patched version is required for proper use of most plugins. If in doubt right click your SC4 .exe and look at "properties" and the 2nd tab I think is "version".. you can check there..
