Still Having Windows 7 Crashing Issues

I've read most if not all of the threads on here outlining different ways to combat the problem of SC4 crashing.

My game still crashes to desktop after only a few minutes of playing time consistently.

My current target line has all of these hacks already in play:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -w -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32

As you can see, I'm already running in a window, running on one processor core and a few other things.

My computer is an Athlon X2 2.4GHz dual-core setup with 4GB of ram and a GeForce GT 220 and I'm running SC4 Deluxe.

I tried running in a virtual machine, XP Mode, but that won't allow you to run DirectX so I can't get it to run in the virtual environment.

Do I have any hope?

I'm so sorry that your game is still crashing. I run mine on a Windows 7 64-bit platform and have no problems. However, one thing I did have to do was disable Internet access before running SC4. That took care of the crashes.

I see you're using an Athlon X2 series, but you don't mention that you have installed the "Dual Core Optimizer" available from AMD's web site.. you will find the system to be much more reliable with it

I have a Dell Inspirion with 6G RAM, Duel-core processor at 2.7Gh, and mine still CTD. Now, I have about 3.5G of plugins, but, I noticed that the game doesn't take long to load or render, so, I was wondering if the program just isn't capable of running so many plugins? Thoughts?

I am having the same problem, except it's on vista. It crashes to the desktop after five or ten minutes. But it's random for me, it doesn't happen in any pattern or sometimes at all. It goes away when I restart my computer, (I usually keep it in sleep) but after a longer while, it comes back.

I'll try installing the Dual Core Optimizer and see if that does anything.

I have Windows 7 and I'm not having any problems with it. My machine is also a dual core AMD but I've never installed the optimizer. Hmm. I think you should try installing Direct X 9.0C. You can also try lowering the resolution. I use 1024x768 in windowed. Why not try something like that first. I heard SC4 has problems with very high resolutions.

I am running it windowed, but at full 1920x1080 resolution, so I'll try a lower one.

I did install the Dual Core Optimizer and played for about an hour yesterday without a single crash. I'm hoping that was the fix! I'll keep everyone updated.

I reduced resolution to 1600 x 900 and had my first crash after a few hours of use. Seems the frequency is down, but problem is still there after changing the resolution and installing the optimizer.

I noticed that your line has one fault. U shoud have it in programfilesx86 something because normal programfiles runs programs on 64 bit mode i suppose...

    I'm running 32-bit OS, not 64-bit, so there isn't a differentiation.
