Yeah short and simple question, but do mods increase lag?

I know SC4 has always been a little slow, espeically once you filled up your map quite nicely with buildings and trees. But ever since Ive installed some plugins it seems to be worse then usual. Especially when playing those drive around missions.

At least your game isn't crashing every 10 minutes. I noticed that ever since I installed NAM, the game has slowed down and it crashes all the time. Starting to piss me off that I have to save my cities so often.

It depends on which mods, and which computer you are using. Some mods causes the game to crash, because they don't interact.

Ok, how about the NAM? does that one cause or can it cause lag?

In case youre wondering about the computer, its a quad core, 4gb ram, Geforce 9600GT 512 mb running on windows 7 64 bit.

Anything you add to your game can cause lag.. but normally it has 2 primary causes.. 1. If the lag occurs the first time you start the game up on your pc it is likely to do with either your video driver or related issues 2. If it evolves over time it is likely the growth of your city populations (which means lots more things for the pc to keep up with as you move around views and locations). On rare occasion it will occur with a SPECIFIC issue .. for example the use of LOTS of avenue intersections, or certain "problem" lots ("problem" lots.. simple.. take it out.. does it stop? if not then move on) The normal result of LOTS OF STUFF in your game (ie more custom items as opposed to higher population and cities with large file sizes) is that the game is slow to load and slow to change cities and slow to change from one view to another (for example from "water pipe view" to "standard view")

I think in simple yes mods/plugins do cause lag. I've been working with a problem with my menu and nam and come to realize the reason my game's been lagging more and more is because of specific plugins... I just have to figure out which ones they are. I honestly think I have a VISTA issue with the crashing and stuff, I have a 4gb RAM (I can't go any higher unfortunetly but 4gb should be plenty since I've played SC4 on 1gb before) and everything else is decent. As far as I can remember the game played better with XP..
