I've read many different opinions on bus stops, and can't find the real answer. Once and for all, do you need bus stops at both the pickup point and the drop off point? I've read you only need them at the pickup point and I've also read you need them at the drop off point as well. Confusing. I know for subways and rail etc need them at both points, but are busses the same?

how about this... for every bus stop you put in a residential zone... you must put one in an industrial zone and one in a commercial zone... so whenever you place one place 2 more to get it to work

Buses traffic will only travel between stations that function as bus stops. So does that mean you need a bus stop (or something that serves as a bus stop) at a departure location and at a destination location - yes. Now, does that mean thay need to be bus stops? Well, that depends. If you have no other lots that function as a bus stop, then yes, you will need a stop for pick up and a stop for drop off. It does not need to be a one-to-one corespondence, though. A bus stop at a pick up point will service two or more seperate bus stops at two different drop off points. Just remember, where ever you want Sims to go by bus, there needs to be a drop off point, unless you want them to try walking.

Having said that, there are other station lots that are combo stations. You might use a station for GLR, Subway, Rail, etc. that also functions as a bus stop. These will also serve as a drop off or pick up point for buses, so you wouldn't need a separate bus stop in the vicinity.

Basically, you need at least two station lots that serve buses. Once you have those, they will provide service to any number of other stations provided there is a route to them, and it's the "best" way for Sims to travel. Hope this makes sense and is somewhat helpful.
