I have an ever returning problem ingame, namely: According to my citisens i dont have enough parks or trees... Basically, i can build what i want but they keep on complaining, and my 'enviroment' rating always plummets...

How can i solve this? Are there any "rules" or guidelines? It would help me alot!

Thanks

What type of powerplants and garbage disposal does your city have?

Coal and Oil PowerPlants create lots of pollution, so does the Incinerator.

For Powerplants, I recomend using the Solar, Hydrogen, Nuclear and Natural gas plants (if you can afford it and unlock them).

Chances are however, you will not be able to use those right away (Natural Gas will be the quickest to acquire the funds for).  When you have to build a coal/oil plant, build it in 1 corner of your map (that way 1/4 of the pollution is ignored).  This is also where you should zone for Dirty and Manufacturing industry.  Place parks here to try to nullify the effects of the pollution (if this later get rebuilt as High Tech and you replace the polluting plant(s) with one with no pollution, you might want to delete these parks for realism).

For garbage disposal, you will probably have to start out with a landfil, these go next to other dirty things.  If you can, you will want to use a recycling center.

MODS :

For better nuclear plants, use: www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm

For easy garbage disposal, use: www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm

(both of those make for better garbage and powerplant management (and the Peg Garbage Chute is super cool!)

I asume you are refering to the "pavement don't breath, we need parks and trees" display.  I would say that as long as your city is growing the way you want then you don't need to worry about that.  It is just like the fire protection spread thin display.  who cares?

I don't know how much air pollution is the limit to get this message.  I would recommend planting trees more than building parks because parks have upkeep.

I got tired of planting trees one by one myself, and have decided to use the god-mode cheat.  I'm sure you can find that somewhere in simtropolis, but you can send me a PM as well for it.  If you do use the cheat you will find that trees grow where they perhaps should not, like in the middle of a baseball field.  Some will grow on pavement in lots, but that is sometimes nice (what parking lot doesn't have a row of tress between rows of spaces?)

An in-game pic would help us solve your problem. You should also check your pollution graph and map, they help A LOT.
