Seperate cities for residential and commercial?

I've started two cities, one residential with "almost" no commercial or industrial, and another wih comercial and industrial but no residential. All the utilities are in the non-res city and being sold to the res city and working well. I can't detect any traffic going to work in the industrial city even though I have highways and rail connected.  Is there something I'm missing?

Or do all cities require RCI and a population to work properly?

Thanx 4.gif

Please be a little more clear. Do you not see cars driving out of the city(or trains) or when you query the workplaces there are no workers?

its probably too long of a commute, or theres more jobs then there are people so they just work at a closer job. it could be alot of things tho.

Thanx for the replies, I guess it is working. I had the display of traffic turned down. I let the cities go for a while and then noticed that they do travel to the other city for work but don't go into it very far. I appreciate your input folks I think when I first posted I was looking for faster results. I've had the Sim City games going back to SC3000 but have only ever just dabbled at it. With all the different mods & bats, it's peaked my interest again 4.gif

I actually have them on separated "Mainlands" (in a middle sized game piece) of which they have to take a ferry over on. until recently, I was letting them drive their vehicles over, but I'm sorta trying to force them into going green with limiting the amount of terminals that allow cars, and producing more active alternatives that lead to passenger ferries that is closer to the bigger towers with even more "Green alternatives" ...Tolls & Trolls help this too.
