Sorry if it's in the wrong subforum, but I really don't know where to put it.

I also tried to use the search button, but it didn't really work for me

The [Omnibus] is a section of Simtropolis that functions as a library of helpful articles.  I've linked to it, but you can find it in the toolbar at the top of the website.

To answer the question, in order to get a region of only large city tiles, you need to modify the config.bmp file of a region.  That file is located in the C:/Users/[Your name]/Documents/SimCity 4/Regions/[Region name] folder; it's probably a tiny, colorful square.  That's how SC4 dictates how cities are laid out.  All you have to know about it is that one pixel on this file = one sq. kilometer on the region (which is the same as one small city tile), and that the colors are representative of city sizes: blue for large cities, green for medium, red for small.

If you want all large cities, you have to make a completely blue config.bmp file (in this case, "blue" means any color for which only the blue channel out of the three (Red, Blue and Green) is set at 255).  You can create your own config.bmp file, or edit an existing one, using any image program (even Paint)...just magnify it to make it easier.  And make sure that each large city is 4px. x 4px.

Hope that helps out a bit! 4.gif

Hi. I have used the Omnibus: config.bmp and how to make it yours tutorial and I can finally make custom config.bmps for my regions. The trouble is I am usually a quick learner but it took me way too long how to figure configs out using the tutorial in the Omnibus. For future newb users it might be helpful to have a dumbed down version, otherwise I would refer people to the map making and config tutorials at SimCityCentral.

Wouldn't this go in the Mapping Coummunity Board Room section? But anyways, others have said that the omnibus is just a little library of articles that have important things about sim games. To make the region all large tiles, modify the config pic to all blue to make all of the regions big/large city tiles.

Thats easy for an advanced SC4 user to do. There are tons of steps though that a newb would need to know if he read between the lines. Things like how to get the config the same size as the region, what color of blue to use, and what to save the config.bmp as. I had to learn through trail and error mostly because the Omnibus leaves out these important steps and it took like a week of my time that could have been spent playing the game instead of learning about the 256 shades of grey.
