Thanks for the comments.

Here is that region shot I promised.

Ok good. I was just about to complain about my lack of visualization in the regional spectrum.... 43.gif Thanks for the regional shot. All of those suburbs look excellent!!!!
Nice close ups (i think i've seen a few of those before) but I like different angles/perspectives.

Tonight we will be viewing some mid dense sprawl to the west of downtown Galena. It is becoming a ground zero for construction and engineering, as mid dense burbs are built on the outskirts of the city.

Mountainside - Mountainside is the newest addition to the Galena Metropolitan Area. It is growing into a nice mid dense suburb, of about 60,000. It was named due to its location at the summit of the mountains. The mountain air has a different climate, temperate deciduous, as the valley below where most of the construction is, remains highly tropical.

There are some nice shops, a small downtown, and a mall already built.

That strip mall must not be opened yet because there are no cars parked....  I love the single 'row' apartments (if you will) right below the college.  They look good mixed together.  And the appartments that surround Boyar park are some of my favorite!!!!  You do mid-rise quite well too!!!!19.gif

    Scipio: Thanks!

railrod7: Thanks, and I think it's my graphics that is not allowing many cars to park there. I will look into it. At the time, it's fully functional!

knarfmo: Thanks, and welcome to Cabel Bay!

Nexis: Thanks, glad you like the shopping center, compliments to SG!

chocolatemax285: Thanks, I love your city journal as well!

    Fabiocb: Thanks for the comment.

dhoppeii: Thanks, I'm glad you find Boyar Park to be nice!

palmgurl: Getting that shopping  center to grow is really easy, just zone an 18x7 low rise commercial tile. That should do the trick. Here is an update now!

    Sculpting Costa Mesa
    A Village Within A City

Within the bustling community of Mountainside comes a new addition to the area, Costa Mesa. Costa Mesa is a small village located in Mountainside that caters to the upscale residents of the city. The village is set up high in the hills with great views of downtown Galena and Mountainside.

We are very happy to say that we have some pictures of the terraforming job being done.

    mountainsideaug31611316598733e.jpg

Above: The area where Costa Mesa will lie is north of the highway in the hills. The area has been flattened tremendously into a mesa-type of landform. In the process, deforestation took place. Since the hills are higher than the valley below, the hills have lost their tropicality and have remained deciduous.

    mountainsideaug71611316607344f.jpg

Above: Walls have been added to the perimeter of where the village will sit. It is to support the village, and keep the hills situated nicely around the area. Also, the walls act for desirability.

    mountainsidemar272411316628563.jpg

Above: Finally, Costa Mesa is complete! It serves as a major residential sector to the city of Mountainside. It is completely isolated in a deciduous forest of its own.

    mountainsideapr252411316631917.jpg

Above: Since the road layout is finished, here is a look at the road names within the village. The space between the angles of Delancy, Langer, and North streets is where the village park is located, and that would be Costa Mesa Park.

Now, here are some shots of the village!

Now, here is a link to a little mosaic I have of the development in Mountainside for now. As you can see, Mountainside still needs some work, but its getting there! Notice Costa Mesa up top on the hills!

    http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/5827/mountainsidemay262411316632949.jpg

Now here is a region shot. I must confess that the region shot looks a bit awkward, its only a shot of the Galena Downtown and Mountainside. I need time to add trees onto the mountains in Galena, and make everything symmetrical. Sorry that it looks so bad!!

Great update Mike.  I really like this new development.  The road layout looks like it is working well as I don't really see any traffic congestion and all the townhomes work really well here.

Really nice job with the mosaic.  The whole area looks well thought out.

No apologies for the regional shot.  I think we all understand that this is a work in progress and it helps to give us our bearings as to where your development is taking place.

hey you have obviously thought a lot about the layouts as well as the
BATs used and it shows that recent development looks real natural
    everything is very well crafted
