Hi simtropolis! I am eager to start my city journal for simcity 4. I know how to change size and all the other stuff ,but I don't if I should start my journal. This is because my region has only been half colonized. Should I start my journal and call a regions growth or should I keep on building my region.

Depends. I hear natural growth CJs are all the rage... but a developed CJ allows you to focus more on the storyline... Like Schulmania

Well... I'd recommend farms around the developed area... Forest the northern region, call it a nature reserve, and you're all set! Then, you can choose to grow the northern area naturally, or encroach it from the south.

I'd also recommend some more custom content, though I can't tell if you have enough from here

I don't think it depends on if your region is finished or not. Ithink it depends more on if you can create some good cities for your CJ.

That region looks good and looks similar to some of the other CJ region pics I have seen.  I have never truley read any CJs, I mainly just quick glance at pics, but I have only been back into SC4 for a few months.  I am not sure what type of stories or plots these CJs have.  A lot that I have seen are just a collection of pics with brief descriptions.  I would be more likley to read a CJ if it followed a storyline like from the mayors or cities perspective.  I also like to see region development in progress with before and after photos.  You could start a CJ now with your region and then add to it as you expand.

I think it really doesn't matter whether your city is built up or not built up. I see two ways (amongst others) of creating a CJ depending on the region.

    1. If the region already has built up tiles, then you'd get to display the best areas of your region and individual tiles and create a story around them if you like.

    2. If the region is still virgin, then you get the opportunity to take your audience with you on a journey as you build up your region.

I don't think there is any right or wrong time in the stages of your region as to whether you should create a CJ. It's entirely up to you how you want to present it.

Personally, I rather like the CJ's that start with a virgin territory and take us with the author as (s)he builds up the individual tiles, I think it lets the reader have a more personal feeling with the CJ, but maybe that's just me.
