NEW CITY/REGION!! Update #1 - 30,000 residents - March 21,2010. Wetlands are the main notable environmnetal feature in this low-country, and agriculture has long been the doiminating industry... The City has experienced modest growth since it was established years ago....

The city has been evacuated !!!! Parts of downtown will have to be rebuilt and levees and canals distributing extra water in the future possibility of another flood will be constructed!!!! The City lost 30% of population. It will rebound though!!!!! A new update will come soon - we have been busy cleaning up the mess + are beginning to rebuild destroyed parts...Our thoughts are with LOUIZIANA residents who have lost their homes and/or jobs -- many of them moved to nearby VOLKA which is now at 300,000 residents, partly thanks to the influx of LOUIZIANA residents.... Updates to both cities will be coming soon.  Stay tuned.

UPdate #2 --- a lot of shots from around town, the population was at 80,000 before the flood, then dropped to 40,000 after the disaster stroke. The popualtion is now back at 60,000, still 20% lower.... Many factories closed down, but note new canals that were digged to  stimulate the  extra water + prevent another flood!!

    Welcome back to the City!!!!

Welcome to update #3 - LOUIZIANA is now at 80,000 residents, or essentially at pre-flood levels.... Note the new canals distributing water across the area much better to prevent any future floods.... LOUIZIANA now has an airport as well. Here's an ovehead shot followed by a traffic congestion map:

Thanks -- that may be the goal -- a modern-day Venice/Amsterdam of sorts, or what New Orleans COULD HAVE BEEN LIKE.... It will take time to tweak it all to my liking, so let's be patient with this one.... 4.gif

Loving this CJ, the canals and plazas look great and it looks very real. How does the canal transition into the river?

But why does CXL permit the amazingly steep bridge in pictures 23, 26/27 it just spoils the realism

    Keep up the good work

Good job, like the canals, but as what hatchet says, the bridge is taking a bit of the realism away. Nice city! Looks like traffic is not a problem!

Yeah, I know that bridge is a 'bit' (LOL) too steep -- I actually remedied that issue already --- it's VERY painful to connect these bridges to existing roads, especially if you have existing development you want the bridge to over.... As far as canals connecting to the river -- they don't really connect --- I terminate them right by the river - as closely as possible and it looks OK, but is not perfect as it is only an approximation of the real world -- and, as you might know, these canals are only 'canals' by the look of them and are not programmed in the game to fully function as canals. So, to keep it short, canals are a visual effect, but do not function as canals (they do not actually move water) in gameplay. That's one of the limitations of the plaza mod --- it all looks good, but lacks real functionality as it's not programmed into the game.... Know what I'm saying?

Thanks --- as far as the bridge is concened, I actually replaced it with a smaller bridge already, I was quite disatisfied with how it looked like - but connecting it to an existing roadway was a pain..... Anyhow, overall, the bridge was definitely very steep, but here's a proof bridges like that / similar steep bridges exist in the real world out there 4.gif  :

Welcome back to LOUIZIANA!!! It's grown quite a bit since the last time you visited it -- it now has 120,000 residents, which represents a 50% population increase!!! The flood is all but a distant memory.

Well, as usually, we like to start things off with an overview map of the city:

    CBD:

    Pretty nice-looking city, isn't it?:

You probably wouldn't expect this kind of density with only 120,000 residents, but it's there!:

The wealthy old-school businessmen and farm owners make up a large proportion of the city's residents:

Welcome to LOUIZIANA update #5! We will focus mostly on showing the new shopping center, executives district and some general shots from around town.

As always, we begin with an aerial overview (note the new Bypass on the northern side of town):

    Traffic congestion overview:

Some views of the entire town:

Old industrial district by the river:

    Photobucket

The City's dump is located there:

    Photobucket

One used to be able to take a ferry across the river to that old industrial part of town... However, the ferry service has been discontinued a few years ago...

    Photobucket

The executives have nearly doubled in numbers in LOUIZIANA in recent years:

    Photobucket

Thjey must love the canals and mixed-use development near their residences with shopping, recreational, and employment opportunities:

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

    Photobucket

The executives also appreciate living in LOUIZIANA because, as one of them was heard saying, 'It's like living in the woods.'    We tend to agree:

    Photobucket

The new regional Mall has been a hit with residents -- it combines shopping and recreational opportunities. The opponents of the project point out its isolation and lack of transit serving the area. The Town's position is the development will come, as they originally envisioned the Mall as an anchor for the first TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) in the region.

After massive floods, the residents of LOUIZIANA have enjoyed a bit of peace with an influx of elites caused by reemergence of the offshore drilling oil industry...
