The medians of my one avenue literally alternate every month. And it slows down my game. Big time.

Mine does that in certain cities. It has to do with the amount of industrial, commercial, and residents on the street. Try adding more commercial lots etc and see if it stops changing.

or there are various avenue median replacements that will prevent this, and look much better imo. I use the utopian avenue mod by pegasus, if I recall correctly marrast had a set too, and I'm sure there'll be others, have a search.

You might check this thread for thoughts and ideas. It appears to be the same issue as yours. Just a thought...

I believe that this is directly related to what type of buildings are located along the road and their wealth. There's no need to be concerned about this. That's why I made my own median. For all the types of buildings and wealth. 3.gif

So as far as anyone knows the only solution to this problem is download an avenue appearance mod?

I am having the same problem in my largest city for every avenue.  Although, it seems to only alternate between the dirt median and the treed median.  I think this is happening as average wealth fluctuates but there is apparently no known way to stop this from happening with zoning or plopping?

The only mod I found on the STEX was PEGs, which I'm hesistant to install because I will have to redrag all the avenues...  But I will, because this makes the game unplayable.

A couple things I've seen mentioned and tried with some succss. Break up the avenues with aditional intersections so that entire areas or even cities aren't switching at the same time. Or you can try beaking up the avenues by replacing a short section with a couple one-way roads. Just a thought...

Looking at the city I could have more avenue intersections, as I alternate road and avenue so there are far more turnarounds and road intersections than avenue, but I didn't want to add more, and couldn't imagine how that would be effective when the problem was city wide.

Anyway,  I just installed the PEG mods and that seemed to largely alleviate the problem.  Now most of the city has commercial medians with a few scattered resedential medians.  Although, it seems the game still likes to freak out if you query the PEG medians, as it will then go back and forth between dirt medians and the PEG ones.

Thanks to everyone though, this place is great.
