Hi everyone

the time has come to buy a new laptop and retire my current acer aspire 5050. And with a new laptop, I am finally buying Cities XL.

I'm considering getting this MSI laptop at CircuitCity, which has quite good reviews:

what to you think about the graphics card? should it be able to run CXL at full resolution with no lag?

hope you guys can help me out! thanks!

yeah dude, you should be able to, the ati 4xx series is pretty good, I'd say you could run it on all high, you may need to lower anti-aliasing though when your city gets huge3.gif.

-And, Btw, thats a great deal for the hardware, 599.99 for it, that's a bargain I think, I bought a toshiba laptop 6 months ago, with intel core 2 duo t6400 2.0 ghz, ati HD 3850 (great card btw), and 4 gigs of ddr3 ram, friggin cost me around 1k, i think your laptop will do the job. BUT! if you can find something slightly more powerful without jacking the price up too high go for it. So, yes that laptop will do the job, good luck!

thank you guys for your help! I am probably going to get that MSI. Your input was very valuable Hail91, I have to read about that anti aliasing thing, I am not familiar with it - thanks!

No Problem dude4.gif good luck! and, and toshiba with nvidia GT230M, that's not bad, not top of the line for the nvidia 2xx series, but still damn good for a laptop, you got a deal there, lol, I'm looking at selling my lappy to a friend who will pay 600 for it, and then buy a laptop I have on hold at circuit city9.gif,

Asus laptop with intel core i7-320@2.3 ghz (overclockable/hyperthreading), 4 GB ddr3, ati mobility radeon 5470 with 1 GB dedicated ram all for 799$! not bad9.gif

BTW, do you guys set your anti-alising at 8X or less? I noticed a bit of lag on my system when I set it up at 8X + I run a super-fast i-7 core with ATI 4850 1GB memory....

I have it at 4 atm, can set it on 8 without problems but when my city gets to about 200k it starts lagging a bit, so i prefer 4. It's good enough!

Yeah, I'm going to stick with 4 as well - no lagging whatsoever then... I might go crossover soon though, and then 8 wouldn't probably be an issue anymore....
