Sim City for mac custom content creation

Just about to install Windows 7 (with windows xp mode) on my MacBook Pro via boot camp.

Already have SC4 for windows, see, Im getting prepared here...

I want to make some sort of custom content, focusing mainly on buildings at the start of my run.

What I was wanting to learn is how to modify the buildings to make them fully mac compatible. ie, nightlighting and also make sure the station capacities are correct.

So what Im asking for is, does anyone have any links to specific tutorials for nightlighting on mac and station capacities? (if there aren't any prepublished tutorials anywhere then if you could post how you do it here, that would be nice because then we can compile a tutorial here)

Also, what other applications should I download? Whats the general consensus on that SC4 PIMX? And iLive Reader?

Thanks

-Hamish

bwatterud and Goaskin are the two who have done the nightlighting.  I'm afraid that is beyond me.

As for the train station capacities, this is an excerpt of a post I made quite a long time ago, but it tells the story of how to make sure the train station capacities are correct for both Windows and Mac:

1) Open iLive Reader

2) Open the SC4lot file of the BAT

3) Go to the Exemplar Files and find these two entries

Transit switch entry cost

Transit switch traffic capacity

4) double click on them one by one and change the rep counts to zero.

5) save (of course!) and you're done!

That's it.  4.gif

As for SC4 PIMX, I've never heard of it.  iLive Reader is a must-have though.

In my book PIMX (or SC4PIM) and reader are both essential tools (SC4PIM really leaves both the PIM and the LE long behind). (FWIW reader has just had it's first update in 6 years or so, check it out at SC4D) I am relatively new to CC creation, and am also using a windows version, on Windows 7 via bootcamp (2.4 ghz macbook pro) I played using the mac version of SC4 for years but updated about 6 months ago now. I am now using 3ds MAX for modeling, reader for modding and SC4PIM for LOTting & modding. As for nightlighting it works just the same, you just need to have the night light updates for CC lights to work. Everything should now work for you just as it does for every PC user , there's nothing additional needing to be done to make buildings "mac compatible" Reader is the primary program though to make whatever changes you might want to make. SC4tool is also a very useful program that you should take a look at.

    Thanks for the response guys.

Train station capacities don't look that hard, but I haven't tried it yet, so we shall see if that is the case.

I managed to track down those notes on nightlighting, lets see how far I get with those.

And I have a few buildings that I have made, so I shall try nightlighting those, and also try the PIMX and the LE on them see which one is nicer to use.

I'll probably have some questions, but lets see how far I get with these 9.gif
