The concorde ran over a piece of debris on the runway during takeoff, which cut through an exposed electrical line, which caused sparks and eventually caught an engine on fire, so the plane didn't have enough power to reach the next airport three miles away. Instead in landed directly atop a hotel.

XII. At 8AM on Tuesday, November 21, 1916, the Britannic experienced a violent explosion, which was later attriibuted to a german mine. It sank within 55 minutes.

XIII. On July 25, 1956, the Andrea Doria was heading toward New York from Genoa. In a heavy fog, the Doria tried to avoid a collision by steering left of the oncoming ship, the Stockholm. The Stockholm's tough ice-breaker bow sliced into the Doria at almost 90 degrees. The watertight doors were quickly overwhelmed. The ship began to list and finally, 11 hours after the collision, it capsized.

EDIT @ 6:40 CST- IX... On a voyage from Queenstown on April 11th at 1:30 pm, the RMS Titanic drops the anchor for the last time. The Frederick Fleet sight an iceburg at 11:40 on April 14th, 1912. Shortly after that, the RMS Titanic hits an iceburg, cutting open the belly of the beast. This caused the ship to lose it's bouyancy, so it finally went all the way underwater at 2:18am on April 15th, 1912. The RMS Carpathia arrives in New York with Titanic survivors on April 18th at 9:00 pm.

XI. The leading theory about the sinking of the Empress of Ireland puts it in a fog bank close to the shore of the St. Lawrence River on May 29, 1914. Capt. Kendall claimed after the fact that he put the engines in reverse and stopped for about 8 minutes before the ship was rammed by the Storstad. The Storstad was executing a sudden 90 degree turn starboard. The watertight doors on the Empress could not be closed because the damage was so great. She had no power and was unable to beach herself. 15 minutes after the collision, the Empress sank. 840 passener deaths and 172 crew deaths made this the worst maritine accident in peacetime.

XII. The USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine.

X. On May 7, 1915, the Lusitania was struck by a torpedo fired by a German U-boat. The torpedo caused an explosion in the ship. This explosion was triggered by the dust left behind by the ships coal supply, or by hidden munitions on board. The ship began to list so sharply that the lifeboats became useless. It took 18 minutes for the ship to capsize, taking 431 passengers and crewmen with it. Only 8 of 22 lifeboats had been launched. 764 of the 1,195 passengers survived.

XI: The story I know of the Empress is that she first saw the lights of the Storsatd a good distance away, and the captain of the Empress decided to make a turn to port and cross the colliers bow long before they were near. Unfortunately, soon after the turn was ordered, fog moved in. Captain Kendall of the Empress decided to slow to a crawl due to the fog, and signaled so. A short time later. the lights of the Storstad appared through the og too close for comfort. Kendall ordered a last minute starboard turn. Even with the manuever, there was no chance of preventing a collision, especially due to the fact that the Storsatd also made a starboard turn (they basically turned towards each other), and the heavily laden Storstads bow penetrated the liner twenty some feet below the waterline, giving a fatal blow. I guess debates still go on over what lights were seen by each ship, and weather there were steeing malfunctions on the Empress. Funny how if they had kept their courses, they would have avoided each other

XII: She was sunk by the Japanese sub I-58 in shark-infested waters with heavy loss of life. She was heading to Guam after dropping off A-Bomb parts at Tinian, and was traveling alone, so only a small fraction of the crew survived..

X: You flew from one time zone to another which was farther/closer to GMT. For example, if you flew from EST(Toronto) at 5:00 p.m. to CST(Winnipeg) and the flight took 1 hour, you would land in Winnipeg at 5:00 p.m. CST.
