Now let me show you the region and some general things about it.

NewRegion-1303940481.jpg

The current pic of the region.

History: The region was first explored by the British, who eventually founded the colony of Port Charlotte, named after the Queen at the time. The colony prospered as more and more colonists came. It became one of the major British ports in the new world for the British. When the American Revolution came about, colonists of Port Charlotte also fought for independence, due to the need of troops in the American Colonies, the British were driven out easily, and eventually signed a treaty with the colonists of Port Charlotte. The Quad Cities now, is a bustling American metro area.

Transportation: Today the transportation of the region is very complex with subways, trains, and buses carrying many of commuters to and from the numerous destinations in the region. CSX, NS, BNSF, and Union Pacific, transport many goods, and products throughout the region. Amtrak handles passenger rail service in the region, and QCTA (Quad Cities Transportation Authority) transports many commuters by bus, elevated rail and subway. Port Charlotte International serves the flights from all around the world, and New Chatham Regional serves some international flights and handles transfer flights between other international airports in the region.

ComputerGuy890100: thanks, but as I've said before I mostly download things for transportation, and sports. I do have a few other commercial buildings, but those haven't been built by my sims yet.

DCmetro34:  Thanks, I always like to add sports information at various times, you'll see alot about those and other teams.

    Update 1- Education

The Quad Cities region has many educational oppurtunities with numerous colleges, including universities, and Community College.  Today we will lok at some of the bigger schools in the area.

QCCC: Quad Cities Community College branch campuses are everywhere in the area. QCCC offers degrees in business, finance, science, and fine arts. The entire QCCC system has enrolled 18,000 students, with the largest branch cumpus having 4,000 students.

Port Charlotte University: PCU is the oldest and richest school in the Quad Cities. Established in the 1800s by Mark Cunningham, the school has since enrolled thousands of students. The school has recently finished its entrance into D1 sports with the completion of the new University Arena built to hold hockey and basketball. Before being a college , the actual Campus was an abandoned military base. Upon being bought by the founder, everything was converted to support a university. School Athletic teams call themselves the Bulldogs and they're colors are blue and white.

A view of the Campus, and surrounding area. The Arena and Football Stadium can also be seen.

    The School Athletics Logo

Laurier Mountain University: LMU is one of the smaller schools in the region. Located in the mountains to the east of the main Quad Cities, in the town of Blue Mountain. LMU has an excellent medical and communications program, with fewer than 12,000 students the school has turned to athletics as a way to attract more students. The school bought an old high school football stadium, and now plays D1 football, the school also plays hockey but has to share an arena with a minor league team, as the school plays at the Mountainside Civic Arena in downtown Blue Mountain. The school is looking to move its sports to the SCAA next season.

    LMULions.GIF

Here is the school athletics logo.

College Hockey: All local universities play in the local D1 college hockey league known as the ICHA (Intercollegiant Hockey Association) below are the standings.

    Port Charlotte University 12- 5- 3

    Westmont College 11-8- 1

    Hanes State Ravens 11- 9- 0

    Laurier Mountain University 10- 8- 2

    Bay State Mariners 5- 12- 3

    St. John Christian College 2-17-1

    New Chatham Tech 1- 19- 0

    Georges Brown College 0-20- 0

more schools are looking to join the ICHA as hockey is a popular sport in the Quad Cities.

    Update 2 Transportation

The QCTA (Quad Cities Transportation Authority) transports many commuters by bus, elevated rail and subway everyday. QCTA started as small streetcar company back in the 1900s, and expanded with every year to make itself what it is today. With numerous bus routes, subway/ elevated rail lines throughout the metro area. QCTA also operates ferry services in Port Charlotte, and has a contract with Amtrak for regional rail service.

    PortCharlotte-Oct91081267226136.jpg

QCTA metro trains in the industrial area.

QCTA has the highest safety rating with no major crashes since 2006. QCTA's newest metro rail line completed in febuary now extends into the mountains east of the metro area connecting the town of Blue mountain to the rest of the metro area. After buying an abandoned railroad track the QCTA began the project in the spring of 2009. The whole line runs as ground light rail only making stops in Blue mountain.

Liking what you've done so far, the sports thing is really clever, you don't see to many CJs with sports in

Its great to see a vanilla cj every now and again even if I personally prefer to overload my cities with custom content 4.gif

You've got off to a great start and theres lot of potential here

Just a note about the following update(s). First this is the early history of the Quad Cities which are located in the Federal Cities Republic (FCR). You will also see a lot of real life photos. These updates will  follow a timeline and may get long sometimes. And now for the history of the Quad Cities, presented by QCHistory Channel

Update 6- Colonization and Birth of a Revolution

    2065.jpg

April 1617- A British ship is sailing across the Atlantic bound for the colony of Jamestown. On board there are 500 future colonists, however on the evening of day 2 of thier journey, they hit a storm and are blown off course. 3 days later they sail into what would become Port Charlotte Harbour.

    1stsettlers.jpg

After a few days of exploring they realize they are nowhere near Jamestown, And on May 1st the Westhampton Drafts are signed. These would eventually be modified to become the FCR Constitution.

May 1617- Colony of Charlotte founded under British rule. (Named after the British Queen at the time)

July 1622- British ships filled with colonists and goods land, and introduce Tobacco to the region. Tobacco would become a major export from the Charlotte Colony.

September 1622- British set up Fort Galvinson and the Colony is officially renamed Port Charlotte. Tobacco sales increase. Colony population is now at 700.

1634- Indians attack small settlements in the mountains to the east, British don't defend the colonists.

March 1645- New Chatham founded as a colony to the south of Port Charlotte. Colony populations increase to a total of 2,000

1700- Biritish now have a standing army in the Charlotte Colonies

    williamsburg1CL050607_428x269_to_468x312

1755- Taxes raised to pay for army in the colonies. (This would become the first many acts to anger Colonists.)

1758- British take control of militias in the Charlotte Colonies. Exported goods are now taxed, and Tobacco sales are down leaving mosts colonists without many money.

December 1766- Representatives meet in 4 secret meeting places in Port Charlotte.

June 3 1767- Declaration of Independence, signed, and the Federal Cities Republic is chosen as the name for thier new country.

May 1770- King angered by Charlotte Colonies not being supportive ands raises taxes as punishment.

On may 18 British soldiers marching back to Fort Galvinson from New Chatham are fired on by 64 militia from local towns. Out the 1,000 British Soldiers, 300 are killed and at least 100 wounded, all 64 militia would be killed.
