Helens City

Welcome to my journal on this website4.gif I will introduce myself first9.gif

I am Herdervriend, someone who love dogs, photography, building huge cities and drawing4.gif
My goal is to create the best city ever made, but that is organized and almost perfect.
I will delete each of my city, because I hate it, if 1 mistake is made, it's gone.

Helens City

The city I am talking about is made on the map of Mount Sint Helens, I love that VEI 5 vulcano4.gif I leveled it totally with the Terraforming mod I got from here (that is gigantically awesome9.gif). I play this map in the Solo sandbox play and actually have just started building. So, yeah this is the first journal that I will think will stick for some while. Don't expect much.

cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This first picture let you show some kind of overview of the map I will be using. Like I said I terraformed everything. After that I went on building the road lay out, this is a lay out, that as you can see is nothing more then a (vierkant) with roads going to the middle and there is the kind of round a bout. Yep know I can use the mod, but that confuses me to much so. I did it this way so I can split up the map nicely4.gif In the future you will see how it will be developed. But let's say, you see 8 parts. each part will have it's own kind of stuff. Like 2 will have housing, the other 2 will have office/high tech, the other 2 will have landmarks and farming, the last 2 will be used for the services (elektra and so on) and the industry, also there I will build a lot of avatar parks around, to get the effect of pollution to a minimum. (Clearly they really work, tried it a lot of times, the roads are hard thought to keep pollution free).

cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg
This is the beginning of part one. It's the housing part. Here on the left side you see unskilled workers, will be executives soon to and on the right side you see skilled workers, here elites will come to. Nearest to the bottom will be 2 hotels, one business and the other for holidays. Oh and around 10 pieces of roads, there will be a part where commercial will be places.

Future

Now I don't have a good idea of planning, I suck at it, I maybe even delete this map very soon or go to a totally other kind of planning. The only thing I know is that it will be more about straight lines then a nice looking map.

Your opinion

If you got a opinion, PLS grade it on the stuff you see, do not talk me to a more depressed state PLS. Talk only if you got critisim that I actually have use with and don't be hateful or so on. (Yep I say this because everything I do, the comments I get on it, only get me more depressed and let's say, for everyone it's saver not to do that, bit crazy I am so. Sorry. This problem I will try to solve soon, but till then, PLS be nice and help me instead of criticize everything I do. (So, this I posted to prevent bad things from happening.)

Sorry! Greetings, Herdervriend4.gif

Love your arrangement so far. how do you manage to keep your roads so straight & parallel? I find it difficult as the cursor seems to have a mind of its own when drawing roads!

    First tnx for your comment4.gif

Second: It's actually easy in the beginning, the Expressways, you first build all the connections to the outside world, guess what is closest to the end of the map and then drag the roads. Know that the connections have a road going far beyond the purple place, so you know for sure it stays even. (If it's blue then it's even.) Then off course you first need to 100% lower then map to 1 LVL, otherwise that would fail, but ok. You drag te roads, constantly and till the corner, by the corner you try things out, what is best. And when the road turns blue, your good. And then it's actually just connecting to the other side for the line in the middle, then after you got that, you can make a kind of round a bout and from that you can make more sides. Sorry for explaining it so difficult. Not so good at it, because some words I just don't know.

Third: The places where you see the houses is quite hard, like, you first need to build the homes, get the road you wanna use, this road you place next to the houses, on the piece where no homes stand, but not to far away or to close to the road, then you drag tge line and then it's even. Actually a lot of work, you need to keep concentrated. And yeah, I have experienced, that at some point it can go wrong thought, then I just try a other way to keep is as straight as possible4.gif

I know I can explain better, but to visulize the map, then explaining it in English, is kinda hard for me. Even if I am good at the language.

The most important part is actually to keep the roads blue and not turning into green, when this happens, you have a straight road. And this is how I actually do it4.gif And sometimes you must just try on a way to keep the roads blue, like dragging longer roads, not connecting it to other roads and so on, to keep it straight.

This is the advice I can give you, sorry if it's not enough.

Simtropolis: Update 2 (for Cities XS nr. 3)

Another day has passed and I played the game for a few ours. This is the result of today's work and I hope it's good enough9.gif Keeping everything in a straight line is getting harder by the minute. And I need to buy a lot of resources. But for the rest everything goes exactly how I wanted it to be4.gif Traffic overlay I used for some pictures this time. So, here some pictures with the description9.gif

On Cities XS I uploaded this to4.gif So if you don't like it here, see it there4.gif

    cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This first picture let you show the office district. Still not large, high tech industry is still not much to. And yeah this is because I am not yet really working on this part of the city. Same with the farming.

    cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This is the second picture that let you see the industry area. I updated it with a lot of water towers, electra towers and fuel/waste fields. And off course high density and manufacturing.

    cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This 3rd picture let you show the middle of my city. It's almost still the same but now it also got some executives and some buildings like water storage and waste treatment plants.

    cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This picture let you see the housing district. As you can see it expanded and now I am using that zoning thing with 6 homes. Also leisure and all that other stuff is added to keep the people happy. 10 rows of low density, the rest is medium. The high will come soon, but need to figure out what looks best and works best.

    cxlscreenshothelenscity.jpg

This is just a picture taken from the postcard view. The roads are orange as you can see, some are even red, but it not makes the people to angry so4.gif

This was the update for today, I will now go on with something else4.gif
