Cities going missing when I add to plugins folder?

Hi,

First off, I don't know which folder to save my plugins to... is it my:

PROGRAM FILES > MAXIS > SIMCITY > PLUGINS   

        or          DOCUMENTS > SIMCITY > PLUGINS  ???

Secondly, whenever I add to them (I have been adding to both with copies) all the cities in my regions seem to be 'wiped' from my memory.

When I have checked the regions files in both the above directories, I cannot find a trace of my cities!

What is happening to my cities and where do you save plugins!? --since im guessing this may be the problem?--

Plugins can usualy go in either one. However, since the Documents plugin folder is loaded last, it is usually recommended placing them in the Documents folder.

Do you mean you are trying to add more regions or replace the existing ones? How are you doing it?

No, no, I've been adding plugins and for some reason I seem to wipe the cities IN my regions when I add to plugins. Although that may not be the problem, it seems when I add to the plugins folders my cities are wiped and I think it may be something to do with me adding to the program files... shall I delete stuff Ive added to program files and only keep it in my documents? thanks

Yes, those in the Documents will just over-write the others anyway (provided they are the same).

Hmmm.. Do you mean that simply adding items to your Plugins folder causes city files to vanish in the Regions folder? I've never heard that before. Are you sure the city files were there in the first place. And are you, by chance using Vista? I think I've read in a few places that Vista doesn't always put things were expected.

You have to put regions in your My Documents folder only. Copying over to the Program Folders File or vise versa could casue one to overwirte the other the next time the game is started which will cause errors. The game copies between the folders itself without you having to do anything. Just let it copy over iteslf and it should work.

That sounds like it might be the problem Xyloxadoria, and yes, I am using Vista so it may be a bit of both! I will delete the files in program files and search around in my files for my cities.. still can't find them though! Anyway thanks both of you

Seeing Xyloxadoria's post has prompted me to ask are you trying to add Plugins (items to appear in the game) or Regions (new maps)? I was thinking you were adding Plugins. If it's Regions you're talking about, then Xyloxadoria's response might apply, depending on how you're placing files, and you don't need to worry about the "Vista" thing.
