Im hoping the good folks at simtropolis can lend me a hand, I last was on here like 5yrs ago and was a huge SC4 player, i was there when modding first started and remember the release of ralphealninjas RCI ploppables final which was huge!!!!

I really want to get back intoSC4 and even going to pick up a new laptop, however after 5yrs this website has undergone massive changes!! of course "searching" still yields no or wrong results. My question to the community is:

What Modds, Addons etc. do i need!? the only one i know to get is the NAM (and the NAM essential i think?). but i've seen pics of other peoples cities that are simply beyond amazing!!! highway systems that i never seen before! i think its called rural something rather.. but i have (for the last few days) tried desperately to find what Modds and Addons I would need, is there anyway someone can point me in the right direction or provided the links? i dont care about the Building addons but i do want all or most of what is consider to be "a must have" , for example is raphealninjas RCI ploppables final still around cause i want that too! and i remember modds to increase industrial jobs and increase demand.. etc..etc.. I wish i would have writen down all these modds i had 5yrs ago LoL! the work that you have done with modds and addons are simply beyond this world, i also seen someones cities where the ground texture and mountains looked AMAZING!!!!!!! and whats up with Trees that change during the season? HOLY F! thats amazing!.

big thanks in advance

p.s. i still see dirk has my Sears Tower still up, cant believe the amount of downloads, wow.

i'm a big fan of the Hole Digging Lots. The NAM now has a lot of "puzzle pieces" for creating more realistic transport systems as well.

Welcome Back!

The "Rural" thing your looking for is the RHW (Rural Highway) Project. Soon to be called Real Highway Project because it looks so good in cities! If you type in RHW into the STEX then you will find various addons including signage and textures.

HSRP or BTM, High Speed Rail Project is a draggable puzzle piece system (plop a puzzle piece then drag monorail from it) designed to change the look of Monorails to a High Speed Railway. The Bullet Train Mod is something similar but OVERIDES the Monorail. So if you like monorails, dont download it. You CAN have both but you MUST HAVE a patch to make them compatible with each other. With a simple search of the names of the mods you can find trains and stations.

SAM (street addon mod) is anither draggable puzzle piece system designed to change the look of streets.

If your sick of the american road style you can change it to a europian style using the Euro Road Textures Mod

A simple search for "Terrain Mod's" will give you many to choose from.

If you would like to create custom airports like the ones in the "Show us your airports" thread then download the RMIP (runway Markings Improvement pack) (3rd version to be released soon) (no link as there are many different ones, search "RMIP")

Thats all i can think of for now so i would suggest to just look through and grab anything you want!

Good Luck

First: Hi, i'm a new guy and hope i'll get much more out of SC4 now.
Second: i don't know if this is the right place to post, so just move/lock/delete/etc if it's wrong.

Today, looking for help with a problem in SC4, I stumbled upon this site. Seeing a lot of interesting mods, i'm asking which do you recommend to get? I was, amongst other mods, thinking on getting the "RAODTOPMASSTRANSIT" mod, but are there tools to get before to control it, or is it a .exe file or what?

Thanks for any help.

*edit* i have the deluxe edition, if that changes things.

hahaha, yea same thread as my, expect im not overly new since i played SC4 since the day it came out, i just took a 5yr break from it LoL and recently found my SC4 and RH disc's again!! so im totally gonna get back into it too! the amount of modds and add-ons have exceeded anything i would have ever imagine, i stopped playing SC4+RH right around when all these modds and addons started coming out.

...yea same thread as my post...quote>

Yes, the two have been merged (with a little cleanup)

    Welcome back!

I believe RalphaelNinja's Blank RCI Lots have been taken down due to the fact that it was found to cause the Growing Empty Lots issue.  This was not realized until much later, so unfortunately there were quite a few uploads with it that are still there.  The thread is a great resource.

The seasonal trees are worth their weight in realism; I would take a look at cycledogg on the STEX and c.p. at SC4 Devotion.  Pegasus is still a major contributor.  Chrisadams3997 of SC4 Devotion designed some ploppable flora that were quite revolutionary.  Finally, the modds no longer have their own section, but are on the STEX.  Clicking the Modd Files menu icon on the left, then clicking "Highest Rated" up top, gives you this or this, most popular.  If the link doesn't work, just do the steps.

    @ haxfar:

The Road Top Mass Transit was designed to work with the NAM and SAM, and the add on pack to optimize that  can be found here.  The station models used have been designed by various other creators.  The instructions for both are carefully written, so give the descriptions and readme's a good study before installing everything.

    thanks

no it wasnt Blank RCI lots.. it was the RCI ploppable lots, he made all 560 lots that come out of the box of SC4 ploppable(they show up on the landmarks menu in order) .. it was a very very long list hahaha, i remember having it before. the lots were 100% fully functional. it was great. i will check those other ones out too, just wish they were organized slightly better

Yeah, that  is still on the STEX, here.  An alternative is the LotPlop function of the Extra Cheats DLL.  This file should not be installed to a sub folder, only placed in the root directory of Plugins.  Run the game, open the cheat window with Ctrl-X, right click on the upper cheat window to get the menu of cheat functions, select LotPlop, enter, and a scrollable window will open with all lots in it.  Select a lot, close the window, and plop it  The only drawback is that the Maxis building families don't seem to change on some lots.  But it is nice not to have all those files in the Landmarks menu.  There are a number of other handy Cheats included if that suits your play style.
