ok, I'm new in sim city.

though I've played  when the games came out. but I'm new in knowing that the game offers a lot of

different things and complex

so I'm just wondering about the crime.

I noticed that when I opened the crime tabs...

usually the building with potential crime will be colored in yellow, and depends

on the crime factor it might be red.

and more detail...

sometimes they'll explain what type of crime is happening in the area

perhaps fighting... throwing pie... car theft... drugs... flashing... and many other things.

so my question is... what determines different act of crimes?

and who determine that?

is the game engine determine that?

but in the ilive reader, there is only a crime points. and crime radius? (correct me if I'm wrong)

and no crime types. (correct me if I'm wrong)

it would be cool if we can mod what type of crime happen where.

or more realistically, maybe we can introduced ordinances that effects types of crime instead of crime in general.

it's not realistic that bus station increase pie throwing? it might increase car theft however.

or you know the type of commercial buildings increases different types of crime.

bar maybe increases flashing crime and fighting. but insurance company increases car theft?

things like that.

anybody have any comments?

The crimes are matched to the "severity" of the "crime zone".. that is to say armed robbery must have more severe conditions than "toilet papering" for example

I have noticed however that there seems to be some trends for the "severity" of a crime, and the amount of crime in the area. For instance, if I have an entire city covered with little more than farms, and no police, I'll get little yellow spots of crime everywhere, but only minor crimes like grafitti, pie throwing, and a LOT of fighting. No matter what, I'll never get worse than that in a low density zoned area. It's only in urban areas without any crime protection that I've ever seen murder, carjacking, and the like. Presumably, there's nothing to do in the rural areas, so the kids are always getting into fistfights!
