Hello and welcome to the City journals of Gribael.

Gribael is an ultra-realistic built city and do not expect this city to become big with a lot of scyscrapers shortly, it will grow slowly but with lots of detail and realism.

Gribael host all the available mods and uses them frequently because they help a lot for the realistic touch. Hereby thanks all those modders for the great work so far!

Now It's time to publish our first City Journal...

Gribael - 14 february 2010 - 2500 inhabitants

Map Statistics:

Gribael's traffic flow
vzzuif.jpg

As Gribael is still a small farming community, it doesn't have much problems at the moment with this kind of traffic layout. You can already notice some roads in the center are already turning dense.

Overal Views:

Showing Gribael small industry development with further on the center of the village. With farming grounds and forest in between.

Gribael map overview 2

Here a closer look to Gribael Village, only a couple streets cover the village lay-out. Note the Village town hall and in the far end Lake Carnil.

Landmarks:

Lake Carnil

Here a close look the Lake Carnil and Carnil Holiday Center. Some small luxury hotels with 2 tennis courts nearby.

Mayor's House
vsdqo2.jpg

This is where Mayor MrDiels takes residence. A nice house on the forested hill Arria's Foothill. Next to it lies Lake Carnil with its palmtrees housing skilled workers and executives.

Pesticide Industry
2ijg4s3.jpg

Gribael hosts some pecticide industry to provide other cities but they want to keep away this dangerous industry from the public. That's why MrDiels decided to hide away the pesticide in the middle of forest.

Walkways
2h38rox.jpg

Showing some ideas around walkways for inhabitants. The red and the white pavements. Also note the houses on the back being placed at different altitutes with Mt. Gurrian on the horizon.

That's it for now. As I said before I tend to build slow and realistic. Hope you will take note on the realism build, more to come later, thanks for reading!

Gribael now reached 5000 inhabitants and introducing a lot more region-work and introducing 3 new villages on the map.

With this update came 2 new mods: New Farms mod and Roundabout unlock, thanks for sharing!

    Gribael - 17 february 2010 - 5000 inhabitants

    Geographic view:

Region Of Gribael at 5000 inhabitants

    96z383.jpg

A nice satellite shot at Gribael's Region that gives you a view on Gribael's latest developments. 3 New villages have settled and Murrin forest has been put on the map.

    Overal Views:

    Ardinton

    14c4fvb.jpg

To the west of Gribael lies Ardinton. A small enclosed farm community enclosed by forest. A few has settled on the border of the farmland into the forest for a peaceful and quiet retreat.

    Gremloch

    21mb8dh.jpg

Southwest of Gribael you will find Gremloch. A brand new village that takes hold along the N14 road leading towards Ensdevia located to the far west. Gremloch is already attracting some industry on this important road connection and providing jobs to the local citizens.

    Murrin

    dz79qh.jpg

Murrin lies to the south of Lake Carnil, right next to Murrin forest. Murrin currently serves as a roadtrip stop between Gribael and Clurridin in the far south along the N-15 road. Murrin provides some bars, fastfood-joints and mini-marts all along the Murrin-roundabout.

    Landmarks:

    Murrin Forest 1

    153y7tu.jpg

Northwest of Murrin lies Murrin Forest. This is a huge forest providing the local huntsmen with more then enough animals to kill! You can see their houses located in the middle of the forest. Also note the farms carved straight into the forest. This farmboys are very eager to spend their days on the farms being surrounded by nature.

    Murrin Forest 2

    8zm0.jpg

Another shot at housings in the middle of Murrin Forest. People say that if you don't have business here, for your own sake stay out! the forest belongs to them!

There you go, my second entry. Showing you a lot of expanding of the region. Working a lot on the Murrin Forest with a nice end-result. I am quite proud about the farms with the trees around them. Looks very real.

Eager to see what you think of my latest developments.

Gribael now reached 12700 inhabitants and introducing new region-work and introducing 4 new villages on the map.

Two notes you should note while reading this journal; first of all this is a very detailed and slow building process so if you're only into grid-building metropolises that's fine. But don't go giving negative reaction because I like slow and realistic building. Anyway, everyone is welcome to post comments good or bad if they stay friendly  ;D.

and second note that due to the huge amount of forests I have created it may be possible that sometimes screenshots don't show the forests in It's full glory because the game doesn't seem to be able to handle that. Just use a bit of imagination 3.gif. Enjoy!

    Gribael - 4 march 2010 - 12700 inhabitants

    Geographic view:

Region Of Gribael at 12700 inhabitants
    v49sgk.jpg

First we start of with a general overview of Gribael region. You will see an overview of all the villages and also the new developped areas. A lot of work has also been put into providing natural surroundings around the villages and in between eachother to recreate a countryside.

    Urbanisation:

     - New establishments:

    Arlette
    2ng7kti.jpg

This is the 5th community I've set up and therefor the oldest of the 4 new communities. Located right next to Duskwood and close to Corlando River this community enjoys nature's surroundings and the simple life. Glad to be far away from industry the citizens enjoy there days enjoying the wild Corlando River runnings.

    Blajsta
    2ld7l87.jpg

Blajsta is the first community set up that crosses the great Yante River. A lot of investments and time have been put into constructing Yante Bridge to connect the community with Gribael. Typical to Blajsta are the surrounding forests stretching along the great Blajsta cliffs.

    Guyorch
    j6gys5.jpg

Guyorch being the latest community to settle down is already providing a lot of jobs and growth to the citizens thanks to Mr. Kurowski that has invested in a huge nail factory project, 'The Nailworks'.

    Pirun
    20at81u.jpg

On the far west of Gribael and closer to Gremloch lies Pirun, a peaceful farming community  that lies on the other side of Yante River. Pirun being utterly self-sufficient providing all the basic needs the citizens need with local farming and shops. Famous are Pirun's bar 'The Wild Jagger' for It's locally produced quality beer.

     - Cities in development:

    Gremloch
    2i6fkgl.jpg

With the new jobs opening up in the neighbourhood because of the mixed farming/industrial community Gremloch has attracted a lot new citizens. Also Gremloch was first to set up a few office buildings which provided work to local qualified workers.

    Gribael
    1583xhj.jpg

Straight after Gremloch put up offices, Gribael has started the 'Union Garden', which are 3 offices providing the first offices for Gribael. But more importantly Gribael has increased a lot in population, mostly thanks to the contruction of the region's first Sherriff's Officeand Fire Station. Next to that Gribael has put up a Elementary School and Middle School called 'Gribael Lecture And Knowledge Instution' the GLAKI.

The GLAKI, the Sherriff's Office and the Fire Station
    289a5jc.jpg

Here a closer view on the new development GLAKI and security installations.

    - Industrial development:

    Gribael Industrial Area
    2iiy6s.jpg

Also Gribael's industrial area has expanded. Now hosting 2 small power plants to provide the currently needed region's electricity. This area is definately a work in progress as more expansion is planned.

    Freshdrink GmbH
    2r4nb4z.jpg

The first real independent businesses are coming up. Here showing the water plants providing all the region's need for water.

    Overal Views:

    - Landmarks:

    Arlette Castle
    20zo5fp.jpg

Duke Kuhaizy lives here quietly and chique. Nice driveway he has!

    - Natural Landmarks:

    Corlando River
    102vznl.jpg

The nice curly Corlando River in the middle of Duskwood. Favored for fishing and skinnydipping!

    Duskwood
    2ym7v3c.jpg

The green lung of Gribael. This is a very dense forest but it doesn't show all the trees unfortunately. People dare go to Corlando River, but no-one dares straying of the path. A lot of complaints are known about unearthly screams and howls. Also a few children has dissapeared in duskwood. People talking about an old witch living there...

    Mt. Hope
    rqyxs1.jpg

And last I show you Mt. Hope a steep Mountain reaching as high as 1238 meters high! The only person that made it to the top was Old Mad Duke McHornyGoat. He didn't even realise it as he tells that he was just concentrating on catching one of his goat that ran away screaming in agony.

Great work -- love the realism of your work.

By the way, which mod allowed you to do those brick pedestrian walkways (or are those brick streets?...) you showed off in the last image of your first update?

Hey, thanks a lot for the nice comment. More to come soon, that would be the New Plazas Mod found on www.citiesxs.net (don't know if I'm allowed to link the site, sorry if I couldn't).

Also the trees and forests are all part of the single mod.

Excellent use of the trees and small communities. This is really nice! Keep up the good work! Will you ever have a bigger community with at least medium size buildings or only a collection of small communities is the plan?
